To access both front & rear e-lockers, I bypassed the magic dial and ECU (wiring) years ago and went with a direct 12v current to the actuators.. Using simple toggles on dash now to send current directly to actuators (respectively). Ordered it from "12voltguy." Works much faster and reduces...
I think it's a fair price for a ready-out-the-door outlander. Don't count on USAA, or any other insurance company, to pay you more than $3500-4K, despite condition, mileage, and extras. I found that out the hard way on my 1st LX. Nice rig!
Curious to know if you ever found the definitive answer to your actuator problem? I recently took apart a gummed-up front actuator that wasn't working; cleaned it up and installed it with success--locker engaged almost immediately...and still does. Only problem is it will not unlock without...
I would go with the easier fixes/replacements first. Had some missing issues awhile back. Tune-up with new plugs, new wires, and distributor cap adjustment took care of problem. Given it's the original set-up on your '93, I would go there first...imo

Glad you're keeping it. I'm with USAA, and they totalled mine a couple years ago (front body damage/radiator only; no frame) too. For the amount of money (or lack there of) they wanted to pay-out, there wasn't a car around that could do what my 80 could do for that money. Kept it, fixed...
Hey guys, been lurking on site for sometime, but never posted...
Simply put, I had my locked '97 fzj80 wrecked over a year ago and want to swap out its front & rear axles (including wiring harnesses) into another, unlocked '97 80 I own--making the current 80 e-locked capable. In exchange for...
