The small metal cover in your picture is where the block is that drops in a slot when the key is turned to off and is lifted up when the key is rotated to on. When it is down in the slot it locks the steering from turning. In my 1975 FJ40 it would drop in while the key was on so I removed it.
Thanks to all who chimed in. I spent some quality time under the cruiser before I took it off the trailer and found the rod on the slave cylinder adjusted too long. After adjusting it there seem to be enough cluch en engagement to give it a try. Thanks f or the help.
Bought a 73 Fj 55 Not running. So now that it is running I can not get the clutch to engage. Fluids are full. Peddle has the correct travel transfer is in gear trans feels good but no drive to the wheels when the clutch is let out Not knowing the history I need a starting point Thanks Dan
I passed on my Pig to the kids in Orlando and they could use a little help resolving some oil leaks. They are in the Orlando Fla. area. Could someone recommend a shop in that area? Thanks Dan
