Hi.
I'm looking for a good set of HFS, or OME lift springs.
Is anyone upgrading, or doing a SOA conversion, and wanting to get rid of their springs?
Thanks.
That makes a huge difference. Any complications, or secondary issues, when drilling the perches? I’m assuming that small amount of stretch wouldn’t affect the driveshaft length too much.
Hi.
I'm reverse engineering, and correcting, a previous owner's very poorly constructed lift.
So far I've removed 8.5" long shackles with more conservative 4.5 (f) and 5.5" (r) shackles. I also installed shims to bring the caster and driveline angles closer to proper numbers.
After replacing the...
Yeah, I know.
Actually, my favorite option seems to be #3: spend a lot of time trying to find simple solutions to issues long since solved by people with much more experience than myself, only to get frustrated and realize things are done a certain way for a reason, BECAUSE THEY ONLY WORK ONE...
There aren’t any shims. It’ll need a lot of them, to run 8.5” shackles! ;-)
Thanks for your thoughts. I agree. I was just trying to come up with an option that would allow me to do the impossible . . . But kept running into all the known roadblocks.
That’s good to hear!
Yes to all of that. :-)
I currently have ridiculously-long, homemade shackles clamped tightly on old rubber bushings. I’m installing poly bushings, and not over tightening them. I installed bilstein 5100 shocks, but don’t think they’re having much effect, due to the...
Hi Guys.
I am working backwards and undoing some poor suspension modifications done by a previous owner.
My '73 Cruiser currently sits on 33x12.5 tires and clears my garage door my millimeters. It's great.
The downside is HOW the lift is obtained, VERY long shackles, which look ridiculous and...
Hi.
I've run searches for this question, and have found arguments on both sides.
Are spring u-bolts are one-time use items, and should never be torqued more than once?
Or, are they fine to use, loosen, re-tighten . . . over and over?
I'm in the process of correcting caster angles by installing...
I ended up installing a 4 wheel disc conversion. It’s AMAZING! Definitely worth the cost, which wasn’t much more that buying the correct parts to rebuild the tires drum system. I highly recommend discs.
