Good morning/afternoon all.
I am looking to purchase a pair of the early FJ45 LV rear bumper brackets if anyone has any available. I was rear-ended and the brackets broke.
Thank you in advance.
Hi there.
So, as I can't find stock rear shackles for my wagon, am I able to use the 80+ FJ40 shackles with no problem as long as I use the correct bushing?
Does anyone have one of these pad thingys circled in red? My FJ40 has an FJ55 front axle on it and the '55 axle has square bump stop pads, reducing my axle upward travel. Would it be easy to make one and weld it on if not available?
Anybody know, or tried, if the heat control valve for a vintage MB/GPW Jeep will fit the FJ40?
Here's a pic and link to a kit.

Hello all.
I am putting a set of 1F intake/exhaust manifolds onto my 2F. Where should I route the PCV valve to?
The 2F intake has the PCV intake going into the side of the intake right below the carb, but the 1F intake does not have this port. The 1F intake does have two ports towards the back...
Hello, checked and read a bunch of threads and still not sure.
For the fun of it, I converted my '78 to the non-US points distributor (19100-61080). The stock coil is 90919-02083 and says 12V-R, but I believe it also says use with resistor. The primary resistance is 1.8 ohms. There has never...
Hi everyone.
So I got myself a used non-US distributor 19100-61080 and need the distributor shaft o-ring. I would think the o-ring would be the same for all years FJ40 but the net (Toyota Parts Dealers) leads me to believe otherwise when I put different years of FJ40.
This distributor is going...
So, let's say, for a '78 2F, the only distributor one could put in is a points distributor (brand new). Which one would you put in:
the 19100-61080, which is E-1968, vacuum advance and apparently has a decent curve.
Or the 19100-61180, which also has vacuum advance and apparently is a good...
Good afternoon all.
100,000 miles ago I head my '78 head worked on. Now it's blowing some smoke when I let it idle a bit then I accelerate. So I began replacing the valve stem seals with the Fel-Pro SS27504 ones. The machine shop put the later 2F seals, which I am finding out are the good ones...
So, it looks like my '78 brake booster is finally giving up the ghost.
This morning I found some fluid leak under the 40 and it turned out to be brake fluid. The leak is between the master cylinder and the booster. Order the master and will come next week. I start the engine, let it idle...
Real soon looking into pulling the trigger on some seat covers for my '78 FJ40. I have been reading a lot of threads on the subject and probably deciding on the Cruiser Corps one's. Does anybody have any long term "data" on their covers?
Then I saw a mention of some seat covers over at Genesis...
Hi there. Anyone know the weight of a '78 FJ40 4-core radiator? Looking to replace mine and I found a Toyota dealership that offers free shipping if the package is 36" x 24" x 12" and the weight is 25 lbs. or less.
Thanks.
So why is it that, for example, 2Fs from the Middle East don't have a carb heat shield, no carb fan, no fuel-return and apparently, I'm assuming, do not have problems restarting after a hot drive?
I have a de-smogged '78 FJ40 w/stock exhaust manifold and I need the carb fan to help restart...
For my May 1978 FJ40, looking for the coolant/washer reservoirs, the reservoir bracket, an exhaust headpipe bracket (attaches from the bellhousing to headpipe, should fit '76-'78) and complete set of front 3-point retractable seat belts. Used is cool.
Anyone have any of these parts in decent...
Here in in El Paso it gets pretty hot in the summer. Will removing the carb heat shield on my '78 really affect it's driveability when it gets hot outside? Wondering because it makes me think that the heat just gets trapped underneath longer than it has to and I am seeing that on another thread...
If anyone can help, I have searched many places and could not find the answer, does anyone know the torque values for the 3 long bolts and 2 short bolts holding the intake manifold to the exhaust manifold on a '78 FJ40? I am installing my stock exhaust manifold back this weekend.
Thank you all.
Good afternoon everybody.
Looking to purchase a manifold gasket for my '78 federal spec. through ToyotaPartsOverstock and there are several numbers on that site that potentially fit the '78, e.g. #17172-61010/61020/61030/61040. If I put those stock #s in ToyoDIY it will list 17172-61030 and...
I wan't to put my stock exhaust manifold back on my '78 40. What heat riser plate do you all recommend, the stock Toyota or the aftermarket stainless steel one that is available? I would imagine the stainless steel plate, even though solid, will provide some type of heat to the intake, correct?
