60 Weber Carb Issues no local help

Have you run compression tests on all 6 cylinders? If so, what are the values? After you install the new spark plug wires, confirm that you get spark at each of the 6 spark plug wire tips. If you do not, then replace the cap and rotor with new ones and then recheck for spark at each of the 6...

fj62 dome light circuit parasitic draw

Hmm...then I would suspect the Cooling Fan Relay as the source for the short. Either way, you will probably have to replace the Cooling Fan Motor Relay (because it isn't switching properly), but if your parasitic draw goes away with both relays disconnected, then I would assume the Cooling Fan...

Dash fuse blows whenever I put the transfer case into 4low...

The Gauge fuse is blowing because there is a short in a circuit behind it that is drawing too much current...so when this happens, the fuse does what it is supposed to do and 'blows'. Given the information you provide in the OP, this happens when you turn on the 4Lo switch. Below is a...

GASHOG, I just thought of something... ... on the Cooling Fan Motor Relay, check for continuity (with no voltage applied) between: 1 and 2 1 and 4 2 and 3 3 and 4 If any one of those combinations has continuity between them (they should not), then there is a short within the relay to ground...

This should be the PN for the 62 Cooling Fan Relay: 85927-60040 http://www.cruiseryard.com/cooling-fan-relay-part-85927-60040/ And should look like this:

fj62 dome light circuit parasitic draw

It might be the problem...if current is leaking through the Cooling Fan Motor Relay, through the Fan Motor and on to ground. But another path might be through the inductor side of the Cooling Fan Motor Relay, through the Cooling Fan Relay and on to ground. The path to ground through the...

fj62 dome light circuit parasitic draw

I've labeled the Cooling Fan Motor Relay below. When you tested for continuity between 1 and 3, you are testing the inductor side of the relay. It did (and it should) show continuity because it is simply a wound wire. When you tested for continuity between 2 and 4, (with no voltage applied...

Oh, I didn't notice the links to the fsms in your sigline...I'll take a look. The #36362E is the one I've been looking at...

    The Classic FJ60 "Stumbling/Hesitating Acceleration/Running Problem

@ravenplague , I installed a VCV (blue/black) at port P of the EGR Vac modulator and saw an improvement, but can't know for sure if that essentially 'disabled' the EGR or not (and possible pinging the engine to death). There was also considerably more exhaust smell after cruising. I've since...

    '87 FJ60 - Transfer case leak

Post #92 on in this thread dealt with the issue of that seal popping out...but I'm not sure if he disconnected the arm at the end of the shift fork shaft, slid the dust boot from the shaft and then slid the seal from the shaft in order to install a new seal in the reverse order. If you try...

What is the Toyota publication no. (should be on the 2nd or 3rd page of the FSM) for that FSM? If you post up that number, I check to see if I have it already in .pdf...if not, maybe you could post up an image of the circuits behind the Dome fuse...Thx.

Is this a hardcopy FSM you are looking at or a .pdf? If it's a .pdf, any chance you can throw up an image of that wiring diagram? I'm still not seeing anything on the resources I have available...

fj62 dome light circuit parasitic draw

Agreed. If the circuit on the 62 is similar to the 60, then pulling the 'Cooling Fan Relay' and then rerunning the current measurement at the neg battery terminal should rule out the 'Cooling Fan Relay' as the culprit.

fj62 dome light circuit parasitic draw

Here's the schematic for the 60. You can see that right after the Dome fuse (which is the 5A fuse that is unlabeled...probably a printing error), the RB (Red with Black stripe) wire splits...and one leads out to the Cooling Fan Relay. The Cooling Fan Motor turns on when the Cooling Fan Motor...

Well, I've gone just about cross-eyed staring at the wiring diagram that I think is the correct one for the FJ62...still don't see it there... I'm looking at the one in the '1984 chassis-body' FSM from this website: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fsms.743084/

I'm thinking that either the aux fuse box or the CB radio circuit would be the most probable suspect in your case... It might be that the horn speakers are a similar frequency to the CB? I have a set of stereo speakers that pick up/feedback everytime a cop car passes by...

True... ...not being familiar with the exact model or how it takes the current measurements, I guess I'm just trying to first do no additional harm in providing suggestions...and leaving it up to the operator to be familiar with the particular model they are using. JawJa, can you think of a...
