i used 1 gallon containers and some cheap hand pump.. it didnt quite fit to the container lid so i had to pump with one hand and use the other to hold the pump in place. took a while but worked.
damn.... i just did an oil change and spent lots of $$ on M1 syn, but i guess i can wait a few thousand miles since its only a small leak.. still much cheaper (timewise) than replacing the main seal.
thanks everyone for the quick response.
to those who identified the wire, should i plug...
Today i spent some quality time under my cruiser changing the fluid in both diffs and the t-case and i noticed a few things. It always would leak a drop of oil a night but while under there i pinpointed where the leak was coming from. (1st photo) Is this the rear main seal? (hopefully not) or...
i have the cheapest insurance possible, liability only, and pay about $53 a month for my 62. my jetta costs about $180 a month for full coverage. both policies are from state farm and those rates are with a good student discount and no accident discount.. what a rip! but i am 21 so i might as...
My 62 is only two weeks old and when i first got it i also experienced a hard shift from first to second, especially when on flat or downhill roads.. all i did was adjust the tranny "kickdown" cable by making it longer and now the shifts are mercedes slushbox smooth.
mercedes slushbox...
the lights on my 62 sucked bad so i ordered sylvania silverstars (needed 4, 2 for hi beams 2 for low beams) direct from the company and it came out to $60 with next day shipping.. put those suckers in and i noticed a nice improvement, especially for the low beams. the install was kind of a...
yeah, silver is great at hiding dirt. my jetta is silver and can go a few weeks without a wash in SD while still looking clean. Back in reno it usually makes it over a month during the summer before visually "needing" a wash, and when i do wash and wax, the silver really shines.
weird.. so basically there should not be any green coolant left in the system. when turning the rear heater lever to full on, no fan went on and i did not feel any air being blown.. i looked underneath and saw what appeared to be the ground wire to something just dangling, about directly below...
the heat was definately used nonstop from the east coast until AZ, so that should have been more than enough time to mix the two coolants, but i''m only referring to the heat controls up front. i did not use the rear at all during the trip so would just using the main front heat allow the...
djawahir, if you decide to do the valve adjustment yourself let me know. i'd be glad to help out. i'm planning on doing one on my 62 in a few weeks so a little prior experience would be a plus.
forgot about that rear heater. it must have been off during the flush.. that is the only explanation for the two different coolant colors. now for locating the leak.... this part is tricky because it looks to be coming from directly above the drivers side cat, but there is a heat shield above it...
havent driven the 62 for 2 days and today noticed a small puddle of coolant dripping directly under the cat thats closest to the drivers side. probably 10mL of GREEN coolant, which is wierd because the radiator was flushed a week ago and the new red coolant was added. ??? the coolant in the fill...
