hi all: just wanted to know where to post my fj60 for possible sale on ih8mud;after i describe condition, mods, etc. so that experts here on the forum could possibly advice on what a fair price would then be based on my complete details. TIA.
hi 2mbb: i'm due for test only on my 86fj60 by 5/22/10! which shop was this in walnut creek? my truck initially failed the last time around and i don't want to sweat it out again! tia, daniel
thanks guys! i hope it as simple as just a slipping belt; i will check out my belts first, but i have a bad feeling it's more than the belts; maybe involving the clutch since i am also starting to heard a "thud"/ low pitch "clang" whenever i release my clutch pedal out; also to clarify, the...
hi guys: does anybody have any idea what is causing a intermittent "squealing/screeching noise while foot is on accelerator during driving in any gear, which "goes away if foot is lifted off the pedal momentarily; this occurs on and off randomly and seems to occur in all gears (86 FJ60 with...
thanks to input from all; your comments are appreciated. looks like i'm going to have to bite the bullet and take my truck in for inspection/repair! like they say, any strange sound/noise is not normal and serves as a warning that something is not right!
thanks 2mbb for responding. to clarify: the reason why i am asking the dumb question is i am trying to determine why my new 5sp with less than 5,000 miles driven has developed at random times while driving in different gears, a disturbing loud whining?/hi pitched howling? noise to which i...
thanks GLTHFJ60 for replying to my question. so are the gear ratios significantly different enough that i should be shifting at different points;eg. 2nd to 3rd , 3rd to 4th, etc. recently i upgraded to a new 5sp; have driven it less than 5000 miles and have started to develop a whining noise...
a dumb question : are the recommended "shift points" in the 4sp same as toy's 5sp or in other words are the gear ratios equivalent in the 4 sp compared with the first 4 gears of the 5 sp?
glad for the happy ending ckcruiser! count me in on the 9th; didn't know that there are that many cruisers in the sf bay area on ih8mud! be nice to meet everyone and to check out all the cruisers.
my 86 fj60 bought new came with factory tires that were bridgestone duelers :were lousy offroad, didn't last that long either. unless it has been improved since 1986, i would go with bf a/t which i found handles "better" . my second set and current third set of tires are bf a/t with...
any petro distillate product including wd-40 is probably not the type to be used as lubricant:) on rubber products b/c they will "weaken" and" breakdown "rubber over time. agree with others who recommend silcone based lubricant as better alternative.
blower motor on my fj60 always turns of after engine is shut off and usually stays on for 30 min; elbert is right about the poor wire location; had to replace melted wire couple of times already. just remembered that the blower also turns on whenever multple cranking attempts to cold-start...
yeah, toyota's brand of red coolant is really pricey compared to other brands, but you can't go wrong using it; had people swear (including some mechanics ) that "it lasts forever"
