    Bumper / Fender Flare Advice.

I'm not worried about the money, this is a hobby, hunting, bug out rig. I was really just looking for ideas for bumpers and fender flares.

Really like this rig, but in the big picture it is just metal and plastic. I spoke with my Insurance guy and he was really upfront with me and said that it would be totaled and they don't care that I just rebuilt the front axle for $2000 in parts, or the new OME suspenssion, etc... I am fairly...

Foot pedal I think. He wouldn't speak to me and the next day they had a 'Now Hiring' post up.

Also... still looking for recommendations / ideas for front bumper and fender flares / guards. Anyone know of drawings or plans for DIY replacement fenders?

Used Monstliner Monstaliner do-it-yourself roll-on truck bed liner outperforms Herculiner Bed Liner, Duplicolor and Rustoleum Road Warrior Apocalypse. Wife and I ended up painting it in our garage, not a bad way to go but having learned the hard way... Wait until the temperature a bit warmer...

As of 18 months ago I am a bellow the knee amputee. While I was (and still am) learning how to do everything with carbon fiber and titanium instead of bone and muscle I have a left hand pedal installed. Apparently stepping on the accelerator like one would a clutch can be somewhat tragic.

Hi All, Back in April I took my '97 in for an exhaust transplant and the tweaker mechanic drove my orange beast into the building. Get a panicked call from business owner and I show up to see the carnage. What makes this über epic is that we had just taken a quick weekend shakedown trip to...

I didn't know I needed a Train Horn to wake up the dead... but apparently I do. Need one. Badly.

As I live in Nevada none of those apply to me, and I would love a Unimog or a ZIL. I had a Lada NIVA which I sold last year as the cool factor didn't quite overpower the lack of functionality. Maybe if I could convince my wife to let me build that workshop in the backyard.

I would but I am a devote of the 'built not bought' philosophy. That is largely what I want to do, except the sleeping arrangement.

I have to give credit where credit is due. I was convinced we were going to flip or plow into the 'lake' but that man ,70 year old reflexes and all, recovered like a pro and kept us on the asphalt and the shiny side up. We were coming back from my last post-op visit to my orthopedic surgeon...

That's Herr Vater's story also. But since that is the obvious story I have to look for the alternatives... did I mention I'm a Reliability Engineer by profession?

We were doing 80 on I80 in the desert between SLC and Wendover and I was on a conference call while my 70 year old Dad was driving. (Safety First.... LOL) When we started hydroplaning he starts sawing at the wheel saying 'nozink ist happening' (Did I mention he's German.) Then the rig jerked...

The one drawback of the internet... we miss all the loverly subtext of sarcasm and wit. Now I appreciate it. :) It just drives me nuts that the only thing that car makers think we care about it how entertaining our cars can be. I can't get a HILUX but a Tacoma is just as good... no better...

Also @mechanist and @ewillis , I assume that this only applies to the front brakes? The rear stays stock and the front get the new hi-steer kit and a brake kit? Will the TDR set fit, it there value in this?

@mechanist thanks! I love the idea of an improved skid plate. On my Rubicon that is the only item that was damaged while traversing it's namesake. I can only imagine the chaos to the running gear had it not been there. I'll check on the ICON though I have always been a OME enthusiast. (Even...

As I noted this is to become an overlanding rig. It currently has the factory lockers which had never been engaged before I got the rig. (I'm the second owner and until me it was a 100% mall cruiser.) I recently lost my leg in a motorcycle accident so I am selling my manual transmission 2013...

Thanks for the reply! I see that I was ambiguous in my question... let me rephrase. Regardless of it is is broken or not what could I upgrade when I pull the front apart. Parts cost is not a concern but my limited time is, so if there is a part I pull out I have no interest in putting it back...
