Carolina Relic Run 2024 - April 17-21 OFFICIAL Info Thread

With regards to vehicle inspection, what constitutes a "dangerously cracked windshield"? Mine has a pretty substantial crack at the moment.

    ONSC Membership+Info - onsc4x4.com

I also just signed up and my paypal address is wrong (frustrating how it does that) - is that address confirmation email automatically sent to everyone?

    8x Series V8 Swaps

For those who have done a swap with a used engine, where did you procure your donor from? Is it easier to buy a complete truck or just buy a takeout from someone who parts these out? I'm looking primarily at using an l92/l94 at this point. If you buy a whole truck, is it difficult to get rid...

Suspension clunking / noise on braking

Bold choice of camera placement, I like it. Only thing I will add is that what I thought initially was a bushing related braking clunk on my 80 ended up being driveshaft related. However, if you have not replaced you radius arm bushings, that is a much more likely culprit.

    HAMOM - Sat, Feb 17th

Room for one more? I moved to NC last year but haven't gotten a chance to meet any local LC folks yet. Unfortunately I don't know anything about 40s, but happy to help however

Source for legit Albright contactor in the US?

I bought one of these from PIP off eBay before I knew it was him. It's worked very well so far on my M12000; can't beat the price

Front axle housing is bent. Can it be salvaged?

Intrigued by this... I assume there is some limit to the amount of un-bending you can achieve using this method?

    Rental Trailer?

There should be no problem putting it on a U-Haul trailer. I towed my 80 on 35's across the country a few months ago without issue. A truck with 37's would fit fine - you just need to purchase the extended length straps for oversize tires, which U-Haul themselves sell. At no point did tires...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

I agree with you, but regardless why would you not run it how he has it now for more clearance? Is there some advantage to having the cats vertical? They hang down more that way.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Awesome! Were they stuck-er than they look in that picture? Looks like they could have just shoveled out. Not doubting you, just curious. Looks like a good day 👍

Used Warn M12000 vs. New EVO 12-S

M12k motor is not sealed as others have said, unless they have changed the design significantly. I've had mine underwater multiple times and never had any issues with the motor. I've found the old-style solenoids to be the weak link reliability-wise. However, the Albright-style sealed...

    80 series body roll solutions.

I had my front swaybar axle mount snap while wheeling, taking out the short front right brake hardline on the axle in the process, as have a number of other people. If you are articulating the suspension, I think there's a good reason to disconnect at least the front. I haven't heard of anyone...

    School me on Warn Winches

When you consider they now retail for ~$2300 new, that's probably about right 😳

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

the trick is to start putting off fixing things, and stop putting off getting out there ;)

    Yet another wire gauge question

So I apologize because this doesn't really answer your question, but is there a way you can reduce the length of your cable run? It looks like you have a combined length of about 15'? More length = more voltage drop (which can be combated, at great expense, by increasing wire size as you have...

    New in town

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the well wishes. I will miss all of you. It didn't really hit me until I was actually rolling out of the state. It's different here for sure - plants and water everywhere. I'm going to have to get on the beach soon, so I can say I've made it to both...

What did you work on tonight?

It was about $800 less than renting a forklift on both ends, which was the only other solution I could think of. I'll count that as a win any day!

    New in town

Hard to believe it's been 4 years since I created this thread. It has been an awesome few years living out west and wheeling with many of you. I've gotten to do things I could only dream about as a kid. Unfortunately for my wheeling prospects, I've gotten a job on the east coast and am moving...
