Doing a starter today... good times.
Pro tip: have one of these on-hand when doing a starter: 90980-11400. If you know, you know.
Anyway... can anyone tell me what the name/number is for the this small s-shaped coolant hose on the bottom of the throttle body area?
I have 2 LCs. (a '99 and a '00)
I have 4 sets of wheels.... two 16" sets and two 18" sets.
On the 16" wheels, I currently have a set of BFG ATs and a set of Michelin LTXs
So the question is... if this was your situation, what tires would you run on the 16" wheels, and what tires would you run...
Had Safelight pull a windshield today, since they were unwilling to attempt to repair a chip.
As bad as this looks (pic below) it's better than my last one, which you can see here:
My windshield rust battle
Side trim was attached with 3 sheet-metal screws each side, no rivets. And they didn't...
Picked up a 1999 this morning. Sorry if you were one of the billion guys calling this seller.
235k miles.
Factory locker.
Everything seems to work.
Clean Carfax. TB at 190k. New Michelins in the fall.
Seller has owned it since 2002 when it came off lease.
56115-02010
Shows up in some diagrams, but not in others.
Some show it like this:
Others like this: (which is pretty clearly the left and right dam)
Partsouq's parts diagram show it as this, but with a different parts number (shown as fitting a 2000 LC)
Is this the little piece that...
So... yeah. Windshield channel rust and rust at the leading roof edge. Clearly the result of prior shoddy windshield installations.
it didn’t look great when the windshield came off, and I was worried at first. But as you can see, progress is being made.
File this under "I'm a dumbass"
I finished a timing belt/water pump/fan bracket/radiator job yesterday.
Everything went fine. Fired right up. Purred like a kitten. Took it for a test drive. Perfect.
This morning, I topped off the radiator and expansion tank and then went to warm up and burp...
I know this is not a groundbreaking topic, but...
After 3 or so years with Duratracs, I've recently switched to the BFG.
Here are my observations:
Quiet. The BFGs sound like... nothing. Quiet. Really quiet. Like a Camry. You knew you had an offroad tire with the Goodyears by the sound alone...
Doing my front bearings today along with brakes (bearing kits from Crusier Outfitters, DBA rotors, Toyota pads)
I've read a ton of threads on this and watched a million YouTube vids, and I've also done it before on a '94 4Runner, but I have a question:
How much grease goes inside the hub in...
In case anyone is doing their front brakes, here's what you need in the way of parts from Napa:

The top label is for a kit that contains:
two pad retainer pins (toyota P/N 90080-46209)
two pad retaining pin/anti-rattle springs - the ones that hold the pins in (toyota P/N 90080-46209)...
They were squealing pretty badly on one side... I assumed the pads were down to the wear indicator.
Get the tires off... hmmm... no anti-rattle spring is the first thing I notice. :hhmm: Ok, well that might be part of the problem.
Then I look at the pads. Practically new. PO must have done...
:censor:
This topic has been brought up before, but there was no clear answer....
With a floor jack, is it safe to jack up the front of a 100 with the under-engine protection in place? (sheet metal stuff)
Is it really as complicated as it seems in the FSM?
If I'm not using the "Toyota hand-held tester" is it the same as bleeding any other car?
I suppose the hand held tester allows the process to become an easy one-man job by using pressure in the MC?
Bought a 2000 LC yesterday after looking at a bunch of 80s. :D
Only 105k miles on it, and it was a Nevada car. Timing belt done at dealership at 102k.
Needs new tires, so I'm considering my options.
I think I'll lift it first (Slee package probably) and then figure out tires.
Need...
