I first used the factory ECU to get it passed engineering here and just to get it running. I'm in the process of choosing a standalone ECU but haven't decided which one yet, leaning towards Adaptronic for support and they have 1UZ base tunes to go already.
managed to swap my rear bar with twin swing out for a kaymar bar with no swing outs and integrated towbar. Welded my own stub axle in then made up a tyre carrier. I wanted it central mounted so it wouldn’t block the tailgate lights and I like symmetry.
Also got a better pic of the engine bay.
Started to baseline everything and started with rear hubs rebuild with all new bearings. Have got new brakes and the front to do.
Latest part was new suspension.
Opted for 4" Superior Engineering coils here which are a longer linear spring that is pretty new. Asked for the softest front they...
Got a 3" exhaust put on from the gearbox back and they had just done enough work to mate to the factory system.
The PO had pulled all the carpet and put vinyl in which I hate and was really letting the sound and heat through. So stripped the inside and put dynamat all through and carpet back...
Hey all been wanting a 4 door wagon for a while as I have a BJ42 that is perfect for weekend and bigger trips by myself.
Planning on a trip around Aus in about 2 years so started looking for a 105 here with the solid front axle still. Wanted petrol so the conversion would be easier etc.
Ended up...
Hey mate awesome build, I've just read through all of it. Think I have also seen your truck on insta.
I see Menai and Diff Technics come up so I am guessing you live in the Sutherland Shire somewhere?
Wanted some new wheels for a while, so decided to give alloys a go. Specs are 15x8 -24 offset. Looking at running some 4 or 6mm spacers but not sure yet.
Finally got around to doing my PS conversion the last few days. I had factory power steer but with 35's I lost most of my turning hitting the steering arm. Plus with the engine, the exhaust lived fairly close to the steering box. Anyway, 75 knuckle arms, tie rod, drag link and intermediate...
Passenger side for me (RHD). Basically I moved the mount further away from the steering box because the 75/60 steering stabilizer is fairly long.
Although, you used 60 relay rod end, they are different to the 75 one.
I used complete 75 series knuckle arms, tie rod and drag link with 75 tie rod ends. Then I moved the factory stabilizer mount about 100mm (I think, I can check) and used a 75 steering stabilizer. From what I can work out, a 60 stabilizer would also work as they are the same as 75.
