I have done a good bit of Cruiser mechanicing, and built a couple , but never done hysteer before. Here is brought a burnt offering to throw before the knowledgeable cadre here.
I’ve run into a snag that I can’t figure out.
Truck is SOA, with Trail Gear hysteer steering arms. The top of the...
I am marring an 86 FJ60 2F into a 40. The only water pump listed for that engine has an oil poker spout. I ordered the OEM pump, and had to send it back. Is the pump without the oil cooler consistent thru the years? I have this no-name on currently, and want to go OEM,
aAnyone have the part...
I JUST!!!! saw a post about OEM rebuilt calipers available at the dealer, on one of the build threads I think, and can't find it to save my life
Somebody help a brother out please.
I,m looking for a couple of things to push my project on down the road.
Engine is out of a 86 FJ60, but I think anything 2F would work.
1) The metal fuel line from the carb to pump ( there is a short rubber hose mating the two I think).
2) Tab washer for the harmonic balancer nut.
Called my...

Can someone tell me the bolt sizes for the water pump please, mine have walked off in the three years this has been since disassembly.
. Thanks in advance.
I know I've seen on here the part number for the extended studs on the rear axle to be used with rear disk conversion.
I've used the search bar, and checked the Tec link, without finding anything.
Can someone give me the dimensions, or part number, for the longer metric lugs please?
Many thanks
I need to chase the threads in the block of a 2F, I don't have a spare bolt to turn into a chaser.
I have found several 13x1.75 bottom taps on line, is their a favorite among the gurus?
Thanks in advance
I have an 1976 project in the works, the firewall is great, but I had to cut the 3/4 tub away. I have two choices as I see it
1- source a good 76ish 3/4 tub
2- cut the 3/4 tub off the decent 71 body that I have and use it.
I would trade the 1971 body and title for a good 76ish body or 3/4 tub...
I have on hand a kit for a 1978 T Case, but am now going to reuse my 3 speed case. Will the kit work for the older case?
Sorry, no pic in my phone to spice up the post.
Hey all, another question for the Bat cruiser build.
I just received the bearings ordered for the rebuild, and they are ITM, not Toyota. I did not think to ask when I ordered what brand, but I was supposing they would be OEM. I am not knocking the seller at all, just wanted the opinion of the...
I do not know the history of this 2F, may have been freshly rebuilt. The scratches in the surface can barely be felt with a fingernail.
Normal?
What else should I check without tearing it apart? I feel that is what I will end up doing anyway.
Thanks.
Sub thread to the Bat Cruiser build thread.
I sand blasted these two, then resembleD them with the same gasket. Obviously they are not aligned correctly. Am I missing a gasket? Looks like the bolt holes would line up with another gasket.
I have a machinest who will flatten the face for the head...
So after following all the build threads for motivation, I am finaly starting my own.
The name comes from the fact that my 6 year old son wants a Bat Cruiser, so we will have to find some neat " bat" stuff to incorporate into the build. Purely cosmetic I am sure, cause I cannot afford to make...
I cannot get my 2F to idle, or accelerate without falling on it's face.. unless I hold the choke almost closed. I kept it running while driving by patting the throttle, albeit roughly, till it warmed up. I hoped it would run smooth after warming up, but no luck.
I just opened up the Weber to...
I am beginning the rebuild of a 40, and I do not think the engine is original. This is not my first 40, but I am by NO means an expert. Just trying to put together a daily driver.
I bought the truck with no title for parts, but plan on using most of it. A tree had fallen on the truck, and it was...
I ordered new motor mounts for the 78 FJ 40 I am putting together slowly. Both front mounts have a boss around the bolt hole on the top side. h However, there is not a recess in the bottom of the drivers side bracket which is bolted to the block.
Am I missing something here, or is the bracket...
I picked up a 40 that was crushed by a tree, with the intent of putting my spare body from a 71. Turns out I was able to have the right hand dash pillar straightened, so I will use the 78 firewall and dash without disassembling , and just marry the 71 tub to it.
The engine is supposidly a fresh...
I need to swap all the goodies from a 78 fj40 body to a 71 fj40 body . I am worried about how different the firewall is between the two.
I have not done a side by side comparison yet, but are there any obvious difficulties I am missing? Master cyl I think, cause of the little rib?
I am going...
Hi, I plan to join you guys ASAP, and I need to post some FJ40 parts for sale, thought I would offer them to you local folks first.
I got on the For Sale section, but cannot see how to start a new thread. I need a little help please.
