Alright, I've switched out the Gates belts for OEM belts and unfortunately the noise is still there. I tested the pulleys as best I could and didn't feel any rough spots or wobble in any of them, but I did find a noise coming from the water pump pulley. The noise is similar to what I'm hearing...
:rofl:If OEM fixes my problem, you're welcome to them. If you haven't done it already though, that modified blue fan clutch from Wits End will give you some sweet supercharger noises too.
Thanks for all the help everyone. I think the most likely cause is the ribbed style gates belts so I'll start by swapping them out for OEM this weekend. If that doesn't work I'll check the pulleys and see where I'm at there. I had read about the gates belts being noisy before, but I figured that...
After reading all the replies here I think it's likely the noise is coming from the ribbed Gates belts. Having the Gates PHH replacement I figured that would be a good replacement brand, but sounds like the ribs are a problem. OEM ones have been ordered and will be going on this weekend. I'll...
I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but I have not removed the belts yet and tried to spin the AC idler pulley w/o belts to check anything yet. The alternator is new and I haven't removed anything form it.
As I was replacing my alternator last week I decided to swap out the drive belts as well. I used gates belts. I'm now getting a loud whir/whine noise that makes me think a bearing is bad somewhere. It reminds me of the whine that a failing power steering makes. Ive checked the PS pump and its...
Hey guys, quick question - does anyone happen to know the build quality difference between the element (graphite model) and the evolution campers? The evolution replaced the element in 2007 and added the toy hauler, but the element was still billed as an off-road trailer. I’m curious if the...
This is probably a long shot, but what the hell...
I'm looking to buy a pop-up camper. So far I'm mostly interested in the Fleetwood Evolution and Element series, but am open to other comparable models. I'd prefer something with a few more amenities than an off-road tent trailer and something...
Where exactly was the spark? Due to the heat by the EGR the individual wires inside the main harness can become brittle or even melt over time. When I peeled open my harness I found several wires inside that were shorting on each other. I had to rewrap the individual wires inside. My symptoms...
Never mind. I looked at it wrong and the damn thing broke off. Guess I’ll just order another one and replace it. If it broke that easily it was probably already damaged.
If the coolant is shorting it out, would the best course of action be to disconnect and clean with some rubbing alcohol? Would using some sort of dialectic grease when plugging it back in help?
I think this theory is correct. The leak was from the piece of tubing that runs from the heater control valve to the top of the metal pipe that connects to the PHH. It was leaking down the back of the pipe and then coming straight off the PHH making it look like the PHH was busted. My guess is...
Thanks for the explanation. Zero smoke on startup and none driving it in the week that followed. Just coolant leak and knock sensor issues. I’ll have the compression checked just to be sure.
Hmmm... I did not. I was unaware that hydro locking from the inside was a thing. It wasn’t a full flop, more like a 3/4 slow tip that got hung on a tree.
I had a little left side tip over on a trail recently and the rig sat on the DS for about 2 hours. Later that evening I noticed a small coolant leak and then the engine started running rough. It then threw the code for the knock sensor. I've replaced the PHH (last year) and confirmed that the...
