    Well not really, not completely, but it's 90% better. During my desperate plea for help I jumped on another post initially started by another mudder (search for 84 gas odor). In case you can't find the thread- your issue sounds related to a) gas leaks into the panel due to a failed filler neck...

    Yup, that's exactly what happened to mine! FYI, I got a good used neck from Georg at Valley Hybrids for a very reasonable price. I also read very recently Mark over at Mark's Off Road in Burbank parted two FJs so he may have a neck available. Do yourself a favor by saving future...

    Oh man, gas smell...I've had my run with that SOB!! If the smell is inside the cabin, save a few hundred bucks on my back and check the following: filler neck "tabs" (protrusions that hold the gas cap tight) if bent, replace;;no go? Replace the gas cap with an OEM Toyota cap, don't skimp, go...
