I ran into the same thing rebuilding my F engine. Ordered a camshaft from Rockauto which is supposed to be for an F engine but it only had oil holes on the third journal only . I didn't notice the difference while assembling engine.
I ordered a cam from Summit racing part number MEL-MC803...

A friend of my has a older Ford pickup(1971?) and they blew up two mufflers and had a heck of a time figuring out what was the problem. It had a new distributor installed and the mufflers blew after that. What they found was the condenser was bad. It was new with the new distributor and they...
Does anyone know of any Dustless or regular sandblasters around Southwest Washington. Olympia area and south. It seems like the websites of the Dustless Blasters around here last longer then their businesses do. It's really to bad. Seems like a great way to remove rust and old paint.

Man I am just starting my 1972 FJ40 adventure. I read this entire thread and you did a great job. I am planning a frame off for mine also. I was wondering who makes that front bumper and grill guard. I would like to go that route. Anyway great build thread!
Thanks I am really happy. I think it's all original. I am unsure about the engine though. Looking at the serial number and valve cover it looks like the engine is from early 1970. But then I seen a 1972 FJ40 for sale on craigslist yesterday with the same valve cover and oil fill arrangement...
That's I am fixing the original gas tank. When my wife came out to the shop and looked at the passenger seat and asked what the heck is that black thing under the passenger seat I had to laugh. Safety wasn't that big of a concern back then.
