Do you have a transmission cooler? A442 generates a LOT of heat. Needs significant cooling. Can be a big factor in coolant temps as ATF is cooled in the bottom of the radiator.

A common upgrade for the 80 is to fit the 120amp alternator from the 100 series FTE. It requires bracket 16381-17020
I’m not sure the issue you described needs a higher output alternator. It sounds like you might just need a new voltage regulator…..
I’ll try and get a picture tomorrow. I remember using it to diagnose an ABS fault. I used a paper clip to bridge two ports and counted the flashes before and after a pause. Then used FSM to work out what they meant. I think it may also read cruise control faults.

I have 1HDT with 37s and 4.88s. I do a lot of off-road and mountain driving. In my opinion 4.88 isn’t quite enough. I’m going to install the 10% under drive as well.
RCV CVs and axles are the way to go. Stock rears are fine unless you’re super aggressive in the rocks or towing.
