    Fuel evap systems & cover

I think that's the right way to describe them. The cover on the right looks new; hardly a mark on it and no sign of wear. WARNING: I have to ship through a UPS type store and I've taken a bath on a couple things I've shipped lately. I prefer you come pick it up but for those on the right...

    FJ40 project sell-off: PTO

Have an factory PTO that is absolutely complete: winch, wedge spacers, steel cable, drive shaft, gear box, shift linkage, slotted metal flap that keeps the shifter in place when not using the PTO. Got a good drive shaft, the long one, to go with a half-a**ed funky one that works, but I wouldn't...

    FJ40 project truck sell-off cont'd

All the heavy stuff is gone. Gonna list as much as I can, and if you don't see something you need let me know. I may, probably do, have it - somewhere. Here is a drum brake master cylinder and a clutch cylinder. I have no idea if these are OEM parts, but they are brand new. Brake MC - $250...

    FJ40 Project Has to Go

Divorce, two moves, now moving to the last home I'm likely to live in. Bought a project that was largely in parts but everything is here, and now must be elsewhere before the move. Just no room for it and the new career is way too time-consuming to rebuild this truck so . . .. So I'm gonna...

Need input on selling a project

A divorce and two moves from home to two rental homes wrecked plans to put an FJ40 I bought, mostly in parts, back together. It's a '72 frame, engine & drivetrain, 3:54 (?) diffs, rebuilt F engine, 4 speed trans, new clutch, under a '74 body that needs to be blasted & painted, and the rest...

    Warn 12000 - no good

The spool turns freely, got DC off the battery to the winch - but zip. Solinoid doesn't budge. Need a place to begin diagnosing and fixing this thing. Can anyone give me a point to a place with good instructions on how to approach this? Thanks for any help. Vic

Grinder won't come up to full speed

Have a 1 hp Delta 10" grinder. It's a beast. Yesterday it was running fine. Turned off, then later hit the "on" switch and now will only run at - not even 1/2 speed. Good continuity in the power cord. Source AC is o.k. Switch seems o.k. too. Capacitor? Assume it's a run capacitor? Don't...

    FINALLY - Found a Haberle

For over 10 years been looking for a Haberle cold saw in good condition. Finally found one just a day after retiring so bought it as a present to myself. Here's a pic. Just got the garage wired for 220 v. over the weekend and rec'd the phase converter Monday and got it wired in yesterday...

    Removing Nails from Cinder Block

The owner said I could clear out some of the old work benches & shelves so I could have more room. The 2x4's were attached with a nail gun. Big frickin' nails too. What's the best way to get the 2x4 off w/o destroying the cinder block.

    replace garage door sprin

I've done this before but running into a problem this time. Garage door has two springs on each side. One, just one spring, broke. I've replaced them before but can't imagine how I did it b/c this one just comes up way too short. My problem is I'm not heavy enough (I knew I should have been...

    Resetting Shower Screw

I had to remove the shower door. Of course the very last screw broke off. Too small for the easy out so I drilled it out. What can I use to fill the hole, then drill it again to put in a new screw. It's into tile but I can't tell exactly what is behind it. It's pretty old construction...

    GFI outlets

Getting ready to move and the inspection report says replace certain outlets with GFI's. The buyers want 'em, so they're goin' in. But the ones I find at the local Home Depot don't appear to be compatible. The screw hole that is normally located between the the plug receptacles for attaching...

    Briggs & Stratton sucky

I have a good rototiller but has been used very little over the last 5 years. Now it takes an act of God (i.e., I use God's name in various wayg in the starting process, making sure the girls are not near enough to hear me) to get it started, and once started just won't run well. It's like the...

    Testing Sprinkler Valves

Had to change around a lot of sprinkler lines and move three valves in the process, and that required laying in new elec. lines for the valves of course. Before everything gets buried again is there a way I can test to make sure current is going to the three sprinkler valves without installing...

    Tailer brake controllers

Have a car hauler, recently bought, that has brakes on one axle and I want to get a controller for it. Is connecting one to a truck easy enough for a rookie to do? Have a '97 F-250 and I'm pretty sure it's already wired from the factory for a controller. Thanks for any insight. Vic Redlands, CA

    Stihl kill switch no work

I'm thinking D'Animal is the right person for this: Bought a used, little Stihl 009 for small trees around my 1 acre (most orange grove) home. Can only stop it by choking it. Is the repair to the kill switch difficult, and parts available if some need to be bought? Thanks. Vic Redlands, CA

    Septic tank & cesspool

Little off topic, but this is the first bunch that I thought of. What's the difference between a cesspool and a septic tank? Is there a way to tell which you have (subsequent owner). Thanks. Vic

    Slow filling washing machine

Do washing machines have any kine of internal filter that might clog with time and cause the machine to fill slowly? Have a Maytag that has this problem. It's run like a sewing machine for nearly 25 years now so I'm not complaining, just looking to get another 25. Vic
