You're probably thinking of the Ivestor Gap trail, which starts right off the Black Balsam Knob parking lot. It only opens to 4x4's in the fall, but is totally doable in a stock rig and an awesome place to camp. Old North State Cruisers do a trip up there every November, I think. National...

    Electric Engine Conversion

I don't think an electric 80 series is practical at all. Too heavy, not aerodynamic, and no range to speak of. Diesel is a much better bet. BUT... an all electric trail rig, that you could trailer and recharge with a portable generator at camp? That might be the coolest thing. Ever. There are...

Where Has Your 80 Taken You?: 80 Series Camping/Overland/Adventure Thread

We just finished a looong road trip from NC to CO and UT and back. We did the alpine loop through the San Juan mountains as well as the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands NP. Absolutely beautiful part of the US. Top of Hurricane Pass I think? Hurricane Pass by expdshn posted Aug 25, 2015 at 7:13 PM...

3 Very simple fan clutch question.

This is crazy. Amazon, with prime shipping, is $76.93. Rockauto, with additional shipping, came out to.... $76.93. What are the odds?

3 Very simple fan clutch question.

You can get the Aisin blue fan clutch on Amazon for cheap. I installed it along with the water pump and thermostat a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. For the price, I would replace it with a brand new unit. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00829HAV8

Anyone buying from metal tech any time soon ?

I'm interested in ordering a set of sliders from them. I'm in Durham. Have you had any more bites? I'd love to split up the shipping costs.

We took our 80 down through Central and South America last summer. It is an amazing overland platform. I'm hoping to get out to Colorado sometime this summer and do some more exploring! Piedras Blancas National Park, Costa Rica Near Chimbote, Peru Highway 10 in Bolivia
