Nice solid roof rack - previously resided on an 81 FJ40 hardtop. I can easily pick it up and move around, equally easy to install/remove with two sets of hands. Frame and spacers are solid, with stout clamps for the brackets (as shown in pics).
Asking $450.
Located in WPB, Florida. I can...
I have a confer style FJ40 rack I'll be posting in a moment - located in West Palm Beach, Florida. Came off a friends 81. Doubt shipping is viable, but I've gotten stuff this size to folks in your area via Mudship and GSMTR in years past....
I'll likely start making it to events later year or mid 2024 once I've semi retired. Can keep up with the Gecko but still not really a buggy, and once I get my shoulder sorted would really like to do an LS swap.
Heat and space is over rated :flipoff2:
Another shot at shoulder surgery scheduled for 3/15. Might be healed in time to make GSMTR, but problem is I've not been able to finish the R&R my 40 needs to truly be ready....been a rough year on the body.
Always starts right up. Some sputtering and light backfiring while idling, and more so while under load, intermittently undrivable. Looks like it's dumping way too much fuel at idle - but with it having run so well for so long, don't recollect what normal idle fuel pattern was. Friend who did...
Downey TBI kit on a 2F. Going to swap in a new MAP sensor and IAV and see if that helps, but might be something simple like not having power to MAP or similar. Was running well intermittently, but after having some electrical and fuel pump work done - it's basically not drivable. Will tinker...
Looking good. I've.had the small stinger on for many years and it's proven useful for all sorts of reasons, other than what I think stingers are intended for. Will be redoing that next year or so as the front frame needs boxing or I'll tie cage into front hoop to help with the flex.
Any updates...
Two part epoxy will work with the smaller pinholes and pits, have several I did over 25 years ago and no issues - but prepping the backside by converting any rust and then encapsulating is a must. Hard to get back there but needs to be done.
Better yet, braze with softer metal. I had an...
Really curious to see what backspacing you're running and where the tires end up when articulated. Envious of that high centered t-case output. I had to work around my Orion passenger side drop and getting the math on the links was way harder. Your mock up looks good, what are the AS numbers?
Looks to have a lot of bondo (can't see body gaps at b pillar) and something going on with how the tub is mounted at the a pillar, causing door gaps - but might just be the photos? Had a 79 that was near perfect except for frame and rust around the seat bases/rear quarters - understand it's...
