Wondering if you’re having to cut up the floor pan to get an Allison in there. Thought about getting a pullout Duramax and Allison like they’ve been doing with the Patrol. Big bucks is all.
The big benefit of the LM2 was you could hit the maximum torque of 460 pound-feet at 1,500 RPMs. Hitting the torque at such a low RPM is what gives you the “throw you back in the seat” feel. Though Barta says the new LZ0 has a longer torque curve, reaching 490 pound-feet at 2,750 RPMs, you still...
Hoping for a crate engine but with the EPA doing it's thing it would be very difficult to sell this thing. They might have some options, wait and see or hold for a used engine. Trying to find engine graphs for the LZ0 but so far just finding LM2 specs. It hits 460 ft-lbs at 1500, the LZ0 goes up...
I swear I thought this guy was at 500kg. Glad you mentioned it and I went back and found his video. So I guess I have to back off, eat a plate of crow and reconsider this. Wonder if I was thinking ISB. Ok, he said he thinks they pulled 100kg off the engine and then weighed it. It was his comment...
Good posts in this thread. Didn't consider parts in the US for the 1HD-FTE but it makes sense. Bummer, sounds like the best option. 12V would be ok but sorry, I'm buying that it's only 950 fully built minus trans. 1100, yeah. Either way, too much. Not sure if the OM606 would be a good match...
The motor with a blown HG that has been sitting, have you tried to turn it over by hand? If it locks up, yeah it's probably toast. Could be a learning tool but o you have room and time? Maybe set it aside for a later day.
Looks great, good price. I took body and fender classes when I was stationed in SoCal but that was 97-99. Wish I could find another college class setup and get back in the mix. Only sprayed one car, my 1980 Corolla and it was just single stage white.
Need to find a shop near Idaho Falls. Maybe I should make a separate post when I get closer to working on the beast. Goal is DIY but there might be areas I need help.
Bought the Chevy 3500 new in 2005, Featherlite gooseneck, used and abused in 2009. Haven't tried to fit my 80 inside yet as other projects are stored inside.
I did haul my 1975 C20 2 wheel drive inside so maybe the LC will fit depending on lift and tires. Would like to spray foam the interior...
Maybe I'm a bit slow but how would work on a sandblasted frame as a primary coating? Was thinking POR 15 since the frame will be clean but this might be a good option. Also thought about the coating used on my 2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 but I've seen some rusted Chevy frames. My pkup is stored...
Dumb question but is the HF2AV TC just a variant and fine to use with your kit? Guessing so but have to ask.
The kit will require the following:
* Early 80 (91-94) transfer case shifter base (retainer and shaft). If you have a 95-97 you will need to source this part. PN: 36344-60021
* Factory...
Well folks, I've been holding off putting up this post as it shows my boneheaded lack of thorough research when I bought my 1997 80 over 6 years ago. I work overseas a lot and haven't done anything to it since my purchase. Drove it from Memphis to north of Seattle back in 2016 to visit family...
I've watched plenty of Otramm videos and he does a great job but watched 2nd gear low do the video and have to say I'm impressed with his detail. Great info either way, will need to scope out 6th gear garage.
After all the stuff I've modified and then sold because it was no longer what I wanted (68 Camaro RS 327 4 speed, went to 283 and Powerglide 4500 rpm stall, w 4.88 rears...totally ruined that car) I've decided to keep original numbers matching where possible. May not be anything to consider for...
