    Recent Drop in MPG

Awesome suggestions, thanks! I'll check all of these. Yes, wheels are Tundra, not Taco. You should have seen the undersized no named chrome wheels that were barely hanging on when I bought the truck. After I posted this, the alternator gave out. This is has been a chronic problem on this...

    Timing belt help!

Just a follow up, thanks for all the help with this, and if anyone in the area ever needs to borrow my homemade crank pully tool for removing/installing the crank bolt, let me know.

    Recent Drop in MPG

1999 LC, 210,000, running slightly oversized tires on Tacoma Rims. I don't pay close attention to the mileage, but when I do, it's always around 11mpg. Not great, but it's consistent. In the past few weeks, it's seemed to be worse, and I just calculated it at 7mpg. Things that have...

    Timing belt help!

Here it is in the correct orientation. When it was flipped the edge of the belt was on the edge of the pulley closest the engine.

    Timing belt help!

I flipped it. Couldn't get this far and not make it right. I'm sure it would have kept working, but belt install would have been harder. For the crank bolt, I put a breaker bar to the frame and bumped the starter. I don't like it, but it worked.

    Timing belt help!

The backwards one is the passenger side cam pulley. I'm considering leaving it. The bolt holding it is really tight, and it's worked this entire time so should be fine? The m8 I broke off is in the CRANK pulley (well, harmonic damper technically, right?). I had to use the redneck starter...

    Timing belt help!

Thanks, the one in question is on the passenger side. Drivers looks just like yours. I think the tech just put it on backwards, but it must have been a bear to install the belt. I'm surprised that it did not cause any issues. I've been driving like this for 150k or more. :) More pressing...

    Timing belt help!

I am 80% of the way into swapping the timing belt on my 1999 LC when I noticed the PS cam pulley looks to be on backwards!?! I'm way overdue, so apparently this caused no issues, but I think I should probably flip it, right? The lip should be at the back, correct?

    100 Series Overheat

Last update, just because it might help someone else some day. After getting it all sorted, I kept adding fluid every morning. After a few mornings, I started thinking it was a lot of fluid. I park on the street, so it's hard to see the red puddle that must have been there. Then I noticed a...

    100 Series Overheat

Will do. And yes, Toyota red, mixed with distilled water, and a new oem cap. Amazon couldn't get the Denso Radiator to me before Friday, so I bit the bullet, and paid top dollar at the dealership, which comes with foam and a new cap.

    100 Series Overheat

Thanks for the tip. I did to the heater tee's about a year ago....after a catastrophic failure that began much like this repair did. Is there anything else made of that same plastic that breaks down with hot coolant? The radiator was just as crubly as the Tee was...

    100 Series Overheat

Whew. What a night. Man, I hope you're right on the leak at the inspection hole at the flywheel. Makes sense. I got a real hose clamp on the leaking hose, and now everything seems mostly ok. I still get drips from that weep hole, but maybe it's just the coolant? It seems oily to me, but...

    100 Series Overheat

fair enough. I know I have a leak on the upper hose. The clamp is not getting it done. Off to the store to get a better hose clamp. Thanks again for all the help.

both red, but this feels like at fluid to me. how much pain am i looking at??

    100 Series Overheat

Both pictures taken looking front to back. There's clearly an access panel of sorts, and a built in weep hole. There's a lot of AT fluid coming out... Maybe a cup while I was idling to find the coolant leak.

    100 Series Overheat

Thanks for putting up with my real time train of thought... What if, when the old radiator exploded, a bunch of coolant got sucked into the transmission? Now the transmission is overfilled, with coolant, and the mix is what's coming out of what might be a weep hole where the trans meets the...

    100 Series Overheat

Ok, there's a leak at the upper rad hose where it meets the engine, which COULD be carrying fluid down to the AC Compressor and explain that leak. But now I"m dripping transmission fluid from a small hole in the center bottom of the transmission. What are the odds? On one side, it almost...

    100 Series Overheat

yeah, so there's a stead drip coming from the back of the AC Compressor. Unless i"m mistaken, the only way for coolant to be on top of the AC compressor is for the head to be pissing out the side. Any other theories?
