Charlie, she looks great. I'm sure the EFI helped the driveability a bunch in the high altitude. The new tires and wheels look very nice. You know, if you ever want to sell her again, I might like to buy her again. :) I am building a new shop/garage, and she'd look pretty good there. Best of...
JJWA40, you are correct. The cooling fan was disconnected when I got Uglina, and I never hooked it up. That might help with the hot starting/running situation.
Charlie,
Sorry, I didn't seem to get a notice that you had posted to this thread again until today. To answer your questions above:
No transmission work was done while I had Uglina.
The floor mat is the same one that came to me.
I just never got around to doing the steering wheel hub install -...
I had the great pleasure of supplying the temporary (6 years) home for Uglina. I bought her from TEQ and he bought her back from me. It is great knowing that she went back to an member of the forums with a super build thread. There is no doubt that she is in great hands (again). In six years...
@beno hooked me up with brake pads and gave me the lead on getting the reman calipers from my local NAPA. Price was less than $50 per caliper with a $60 core charge. Casting marks indicate the reman calipers are from the foundry Toyota uses (thanks, @beno, for the part numbers and casting mark...
The right front caliper was leaking, and brake fluid was on the pads and rotor. Next time, I'll do my inspection in daylight. :-) Any suggestions where to buy calipers and pads? I would like to support someone who supports this forum.
I have owned "uglina" for several years (see 27 page build thread on this site). She has front discs and rear drums. Until about 2 months ago, the brakes were great. Recently, the car has started pulling to the left. It has gotten to the point where it pulls pretty hard when you apply the...
TEQ, I didn't mean to hide from everyone. We moved from the burbs to some acreage north of Houston about two years ago and the outdoor projects have kept me from doing much to Uglina except drive her. I have kept her tuned with fresh fluids, repaired the ambu door latch, and rebuilt the boxes...
Thanks, Mickey. She is still running great. About the only thing I have done besides tune ups and oil changes is rebuild the speaker boxes in back and fix the ambu door latch that wasn't working as well as I wanted it to. I drive it to work about once a week. The car has been stone reliable...
I shipped a running FJ40 from Bellevue, WA to Houston, TX about 3 weeks ago. I used Uship.com with good results. I paid about $1800 total for an enclosed trailer. I picked one of the first three companies to respond as I was in a hurry to get the car. I probably could have gotten a slightly...
I am looking for the top door latch that locks the left ambulance door in at the top. I have a 78 cruiser but I dont think its a year specific thing. I need the catch and the linkage.
Uglina has arrived!
She arrived yesterday morning. Picture shows her in her new home, before unloading the spares that came with the car. Started and ran great. A real head turner People were taking pictures of the car when I got gas. Hard to keep a low profile in this ride. I couldn't be...
This is my first post - I am a new forum member.
I am Uglina's new caretaker. She has not yet arrived, but I can't wait to see her. She should be here early next week
I want to thank TEQ for his help so far. This has been the cleanest auto transaction of mine that I can remember, and I have...
