80 series stronger front axle options

Well slight change of events, seems i'm moving away from Toyota. A set of Spidertrax that need a bit of finishing came up for sale last night at a price which seemed too good to miss, set of axles for about what a custom 9.5" housing , set of Hellfire knuckles and an ARB would have set me back...

80 series stronger front axle options

Interesting that hellfire's might still be an option, my ideal answer would be a Ruffstuff 9.5" housing, Hellfire knuckles, my original RCV's into a 9.5" ARB, Didn't think this was going to be an option as Hellfires had no ETA. The only thing i would like a bulletproof solution for is the drive...

80 series stronger front axle options

I wish, about £5500 a pair if you can find them. I'll either be sticking with Toyota or maybe change to Patrol Y61 front but they're also not bulletproof by any means

80 series stronger front axle options

Hi guys, I'm in the UK and have got a set of 80 axles under my truck and am having reliability issues so want to make them as strong as possible. At the moment from the knuckles out they are standard but have RCV's in them and cryo'd R&P. Running full hydro steering through std steering arms...

    40 series 3rd into 80 series

Cheers guys, the chap doesn't know what ratio they are but it seems most 40's are 4.11. My front R&P needs replacing anyway so I can regear the front to suit as its 3.727 currently which is hard to find (hence asking if the 40 R&P would fit the elock 3rd) Arb catalogue shows all years of 40's as...

    40 series 3rd into 80 series

Hi guys, I've got a pair of 80 series axles and want to get a spare 3rd to take with me to competitions, Toyota stuff in general is fairly rare in the UK but have been offered a 3rd from a 40 series. The guy has a full floater and semi floater, my 80 series axle is a full floater. Will only...

    8" low pinion 3rd as a spare?

Yeah hydro ram is out the front with links to each knuckle but nothing behind the axle. Is it a straight fit or will some of the holes not line up? It is quite common for d4d hilux' to have e-lockers in the rear over here so I can try get a 3rd from one of them and I will still have a locker...

    8" low pinion 3rd as a spare?

Ah I forgot to mention, I'm running full hydro steering so no tie bar! Would that mean a normal 8" 3rd would work? Cheers guys

    8" low pinion 3rd as a spare?

Hi, Potentially very stupid / simple question, but you don't know if you don't ask! Can a non-locking low pinion 8" 3rd from a Hilux / 4runner / 70 series be used in place of a stock 8" HP 80 series front 3rd? or don't some LJ78's etc have a HP front but non-locking? 80 series are a bit rare...

Making a stronger 80 series front axle

Thanks guys, some useful info! Oil pan clearance shouldn't be an issue, the pinion flange is tight to the pan on full bump but the rest of the 3rd is well clear. Ford 9" parts just don't exist over here, nor do 1 ton axles. an 80 series is pretty much as big as 4x4's get over here!. I've not...

Making a stronger 80 series front axle

Probably not the same sort of tube buggy you have over there, it weighs 2tonnes and has 37" Maxxis trepadors

    Dirty 30's

Hi, i know trail gear don't list the Dirty 30's as being for the lc70, but do they/can they be made to fit somehow? i have got a hilux axle casing which i will use if i have too, but the LC axle i'm using is all custom fabbed with 3 link brackets and all new bearings etc and if i can avoid...
