Hi - my HJ60 needs a bit of TLC, and it's been a while since I've had to do anything serious to her, so I'm out of touch with the fixit world. Any advice or recommendations on where to get some good diesel engine work done in the Ottawa area?
So here's a new one. My headlights won't come on. All aux and marker lights work just fine when I flip the headlight switch, but not the mains. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Thanks for the advice. Seems the shaft is shafted - won't turn at all! Vac must have imploded, killing the alt in the process.
Trying Mark + Outback now.
Here's a photo of where few Cruisers have gone before...skookum country up there. Travel with friends and be prepared for some...
Gurus -
I seem to have blown my alternator - zero volts - and have lost vac too - no boost to clutch or brakes, can't shift out of 4wd, and most fun...can't even shut off the engine at the key - have to stall out to dead stop.
I'm assuming this is a consequence of this all being one...
Tank fabrication?
So...a very informative (and opinionated :) ) thread. Did the tank fabrication projects go anywhere. I'm in the market for an aux for WVO - after a year of running bio, I'm very happy with performance (and price!!) but want to spend less time in my shed brewing the stuff and...
Adding some spice?
Great set-up - but inquring minds want to know - what's the tumeric for?
Thought folks might be interested in my set up - here's a short video clip:

Mystery solved
Well, turns out that it was the wee spring that maintains the position of the brush. Corroded or snapped in the cold. Brush itself is worn, but servicible. A plug to salvage the spring and I'm back on the road...Thanks, all!
Hey, folks -
Puzzler here. My blower cut out yesterday (wouldn't you know it...just when the long-overdue winter weather hits...)
I've checked the 30A breaker fuse at the panel, seems fine. Is there another breaker? Any other suggestions?
Any and all help appreciated!
yes - the tent is a Hannibal 1.4. It was very comfortable for the 4 of us - but it won't be for much longer...for some reason, my little girls keep getting bigger!
Nicest thing about the Hannibal is that it's about a 2 minute set up - 5 minute take down, and you can store the bedding inside...
Biodiesel + travel
Yes - it's hard to keep in BD when venturing far from home. I found a few sources along the way, but it sure drove home (sorry for the pun) the advantages of a SVO system...
Folks - Thanks for the kind comments. The tires are alloy tires - the bronze look is anodized, not two-piece, but I sure like the look. It's proven really durable, too.
The suspension is OME Dakkar heavy, with an added leaf in front to deal with the diesel.
Nice pix!
I'm through that part of the world all the time - and you are right, a turbo is a very nice touch, esp. other side of Ste. Anne going east towards Baie St. Catherine and beyond...that's where you get the really sustained climbs! I can't believe I used to huff up them with a stock...
