@jsand1313 Yes, still available!
Happy to schedule a phone call this weekend for any serious buyers. Supposed to have dry weather this weekend in Seattle, so could even pull the cruiser out of the garage and give you a FaceTime tour. Might take a fun cruise around town while I’m at it.
Holiday bump. Price negotiable. Recently professionally detailed, and having fun driving on the weekends while it's still mine!
Merry Christmas, everyone!
Back up for sale, everyone! Had to put the sale on the backburner for a couple months, but I'm back at it!
My apologies to anyone who reached out that didn't receive a response.
Thanks, @777Gage. I’ve debated for a long time! But it’s the right decision for my family. I’ll definitely ask for first right of refusal to whomever the next owner is!
Up for sale is our 1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser in Sky Blue. This truck has been well cared for in our family for nearly 30 years, 2 decades of which were in the dry southern California desert.
With a hair under 94k original miles of unforgettable memories and patina, it is uncut, unmolested...
@B1oodyBuzzard There are no seals in these mechanical jacks. Just steel gears, ball bearings, and heavy duty grease. No hydraulics to mess with. A surprisingly straightforward rebuild. Only thing you may have to replace are the ball bearings if they’ve worn down under heavy use, though mine...
@SteveH About to send my 78 FJ40 belts to SafetyRestore after seeing your photos here. Looks like they did a great job on yours. What color did you specify? I can't tell if they re-webbed yours with black or dark gray. My seatbelts are so faded that I can't tell what color they originally were!
It was on this quick overnighter trip that we took our first foray up a 4x4 trail, and man, was it epic. The trail, the weather, the mountains were all incredible. Do you remember the first time you locked the hubs on your Cruiser and let it climb up the side of a mountain? Biggest grin ever...
Slept well next to the rushing river and started slow the next morning.
Eventually cleaned up, packed up, and headed higher up the mountain to see what we could find.
My wife and I took one of our most memorable overnighters in the FJ40 a few years back. It was Spring, maybe May, with a bit of fog and light rain still lingering in the Pacific Northwest mountains. We dropped our kids off with my parents and headed east for a date night in the Cascade range. I...
Can't believe it's been almost 6 years since my last post! Have had lots of fun with my 40 in those years exploring the Pacific Northwest. Also had a third kid, so the 40 sees less use than it once did being that it can't carry my family of 5. I bought a diesel 98 Land Rover Discovery about 5...
I installed the same Bestop seat a while back in my 40. I’d recommend it as a good option to put a couple kids in the back. Maybe even to squeeze a couple adults back there. Though when the seat is in use (not folded forward), there’s VERY little room for gear behind the seat. The same for...
Subscribed! Just read through the thread. Exciting progress. Would love to see your 40 when it’s on the road if not sooner. I’m in Seattle, though make it down to Tacoma about every month.
