I bought this truck two years a family adventure machine and while it has performed admirably, I miss having a pickup too much. So, I'm putting the old girl up for sale
Here's what I have to offer
1985 FJ 60
Exterior - meh. Generally solid, it has rust forming on the rear fender wells that...
I finished up my week's project which included flushing the heater core w/ acid and replacing all the heater hoses that connect to the heater core. While everything was apart I also replaced the side cover gasket and most of the passenger side vacuum lines w/ new silicone lines. Upon firing...
Well, they say there's no stupid questions, but I think I just found one. I pulled the hard cooler line on the passenger side of the engine while replacing the side cover gasket and can't seem to get it back on. I scrolled through whatever pictures I could find online, but nothing is specific...
So the bad news is I'm broke down at midnight 100 miles from home. The good news is that I'm parked in front of a NAPA so hopefully they'll have what I need ... Here's my issue...over the past couple days I've had to jump the truck a couple of times but she's driven fine. While pasßing through...
Why is it special? Because I'm special. My momma told me I was. Now that we have that settled, on to business. The wife and I are pondering going down to a one car family once we've finished a much-anticipated move to a small town in central Colorado. In that vein, I'm curious how much my...
I finally got around to pulling my shackles to replace the bushings and I found the lower pin to be seriously corroded and manky. So Id like to replace my shackles with some regular ol' shackles but I need to clear something up first. Are the front and rear shackles the same? MAF sells a set of...
I'm not sure if this is the correct section to post this in, but I found a somewhat scary amount of rust lurking under my windshield gasket and need to get it fixed, pronto. Does anyone happen to have a recommendation for a good body shop in the Colorado Springs area to get this done? Also...
I'm looking for a pair of front bumper brackets for my 60 (it's an 85, but I don't think that makes a difference). A little bent up is fine, but they need to be serviceable. Thanks!
I picked up a decent bumper for the front of my '60, which was missing one bumper bracket when I bought it, and I'm eager to have something in front of my grill other than optimism and luck. I figured the bracket would be a no-big-deal part, but Toyota doesn't even have them available and the...
So I've been researching the removal and installation of the front crank pulley, and I've found a couple of posts that say that the nuts are essentially one time use due to how high the torque values are. Is this true for the 2f, or is that only for the later model cruisers like the 80 and 100...
I ordered a flywheel for my '85 FJ 60 and then found another one in a local junk yard, so by the time this one had arrived I already had the tranny back in. This is used but in good condition and could probably use a turning before it is installed. I would prefer to do this locally, but I...
Sorry if this is a boneheaded question, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer on which plugs/gaskets go where? I ordered a grip of parts from CDan, and among those are a set of allen plugs to replace the fill/drain plugs on my tranny and tcase along with plugs for my diffs as well. I...
I'm trying to wrap up an ever-expanding clutch replacement project and the one missing piece is the rear oil galley expansion plug. Toyota needs a day or two but advance auto thinks this is the correct part. What do you all think?
So I'm midway through a clutch ect project on my 85 FJ60 and I have a question about a possibly missing, as-yet-unidentified part in the clutch, specifically the clutch fork return spring mount. When I took the transmission out the throwout bearing and clutch fork literally fell out of the...
Without pictures, this might be too obscure of a question to answer accurately, but here i go anyway. While trying to rid my 60 of it's evil, dead clutch I looked up and noticed something odd. The pipe that comes off the exhaust pipe down by the tranny/engine mount and then follows the pipe up...
Well, I feel like I'm asking a stupid question, but I'm still stuck. I'm pulling the rear drive shaft as part of my clutch/tranny ect rebuild and after getting the bolts off of the straps with no problem whatsoever, now I can't get the drive shaft off? I know I have to compress the slip yoke...
Just like the heading says. I'm in the process of dropping the tranny for clutch ect and I'm putting some feelers out to see if anyone local has a 5-speed they want to unload. I'm in Colorado Springs but am willing to travel if the price and/or condition is right. Let me know, thanks!

So the clutch went out on my faithful truck and I'm prepping to drop the tranny for some weekend fun. I did a bunch of forum research to get myself ready and I feel like I'm falling into the old trap of..."well, it's out so you might as well..." This is a dangerous path and ends with a...
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've been looking for FSM information on the intake/exhaust manifold gasket replacement and can't seem to find it. I've perused a couple of the digital copies with no luck. Where can I find such magical information?
Mark
Just like the title says. I'm going through and doing all the standard knuckle/axle rebuild stuff and in reading the FSM it also talks about redoing the birfields. Is this something I need to do or can I just pack the joint w/ grease and call it good?
