Are you putting one in the front also? I used to pick wheels up at the front all the time so I ended up putting the locker in the front and it made a huge difference. In the back was good but in the front it was great :-)
In aus we have 91 and 96, some places sell 98 but when I build my 2fe I'll aim for that comp ratio and use the 96. If you have shelved the turbo plans, do you think in the future you will take the head off and machine it down some to bump the comp ratio up?
Dropping the Max torque from 4200rpm to 2600rpm will make it feel much more drive able, you will be putting your foot down to go not downshifting. Peak power isn't everything but torque and where it is makes it driveable
Don't forget when you are playing with your rear brakes to pull the axle and regressed/retention the rear wheel bearings, they can cause play in the hub which cause the drums to push the pistons back in, when everything it correct tension everything is nicely centered
Ok fingers crossed it is just the gasket so I can give it a tidy up and get it running, as mentioned before I will do a heap of preventative to the cooling system. It gets pretty hot at home in summer been near 50 deg Celsius.
The plan is - do the head and get it crack tested, pull the radiator get it cleaned, change water pump and thermostat, pull the cooling fan and dump some extra silicon oil into it to get it humming just in case.

Torque converter lock up feels like almost half a gear, it is where I large clutch plate in the torque converter engages the housing to stop converter slip and provide direct drive from the engine, this cuts out a lot of heat from the gear box, converter is the biggest source of heat for a...
