    Hesitation - Again!

Same issue with my 85'. It happened after a complete engine rebuild, and no one could tell me why it was happening. Vacuum was good, brand new carb, fuel pump, everything. I finally installed an electric fuel pump by the gas tank and it solved the problem. The only issue with that is I still...

    leaning

I think you'll find most anyone who owns a 80's model FJ60, notices the left lean. I have the original suspension on mine, and possible the original shocks...yeah I getting to that soon! I have heard the lean is due to the drivetrain placement- it is a little to the left from engine to transfer...

    rebuild?

jbill, I also own on 85. I knew the engine was whipped when I bought it. The compression test was bad on 2 cylinders, so I knew a rebuild was in my future. As I started the removal, everything I pulled off the original 2F was freaking bad- both manifolds, the head, the block had cracks. $$$$...

    85 FJ60 maintenance problem....need help

Jeff, I rebuilt my 85 FJ60 2F Motor and everything was fine. Going down the highway it would sputter and eventually the motor would quit. Turned out to be fuel pressure issues. Everything is stock, and i couldn't figure out whay the fuel pressure drop, looked at many things, but nothing jumped...

    HELP with 2F?!?!?

If the choke pulled is helping, may be fuel pressure, my 85 had fuel pressure issues, I went through a lot of trouble shooting, plus $ and the one thing that fixed it was an electric fuel pump at the tank

    1985 Fj60 Ac

Grant, obviously there are many configs out there. The guy who sent me the compressor says it came off of his 85 FJ60, but now he is not too sure it is the right one. Bottom line, he's looking into getting me the right compressor/ bracket solution. Until I hear from him, if you find one send me...

    1985 Fj60 Ac

The compressor is denso and it is the type in the photo. The problem is I have no picture of bracketry for a 2F. I looked at a 85 2F with factory air and it has a different compressor and it is mounted both to the engine mount and the alternator. I believe the system I purchased to add to my 2F...

    1985 Fj60 Ac

If any LC experts could help me with a picture or diagram of how thier AC compressor is installed on thier 2F. Specifically how it is installed on the PS motor mount. There are a couple of other ways Toyota installed these compressors depending on when and where they were installed. The Service...

    Adding AC to FJ60

Thanks for all the info. I think I will need to put a triple pulley on the crank and from there I'll put the compressor in.

    Adding AC to FJ60

msummer, if that is the case let me know, because the guy who sent me the AC system sent it with the Alternator bracket!!! He is currently sending me the correct bracket. Any ideas on the belt config ? Good luck, John

Belt confusion, lame story, need help

Calicruiser, I know what your going through, I am currently trying to add a factory AC to my 1985 FJ60 that i found used. The belt config is killing me as well the mounting brackets. I have done some research and depending on when your AC was installed, here in the US(dealer option) or in Japan...

    Adding AC to FJ60

I have 1985 FJ-60 without factory AC. I purchased a used factory AC system out of another 1985 FJ-60 from fellow LC owner Stumper. Heres the deal, everyting in the cabin dropped in beautifully minus punching some holes throught the firewall for the lines. The problem is my rebuilt 2F does not...

few questions for new fj60 owner

PCV is in the rear of the valve cover with a Approx 1 in. line running to the air filter. As far as the milage and the 2F. I had my motor completely rebuilt with a new head and manifolds, bored .30 over, a new carb, rerouting and checking all vacuum lines. still get 13 miles to the gallon. But...

    1985 FJ-60 hesitation....stumped

As I was running back through the lines I noticed the PO had taken out the metal fuel line from the mech fuel pump to the carb and installed a standard 5/16 fuel line right over the top of the valve cover. Besides a massive fire hazard this may have had to do with the lack of fuel pressure...

    1985 FJ-60 hesitation....stumped

Sweet!!! 450 miles and no hesitation. I replaced the EGR valve and the egr vsv prior to installing the electric fuel pump with no luck, so it was fuel pressure all along. It still concerns me, I had to put the electic pump on, it should work without it. I am going to pull the mech pump this...

    1985 FJ-60 hesitation....stumped

Well, fixed the hesitation with an electic fuel pump. I put it in right after the tank so I'll have good pressure all the way up the line. It hasn't hesitated since, but I will put 400 miles on her tomorrow....a little nervous. I'll post how it goes. John.
