I run 35's with the 2F and it does OK. I can run 70mph on the highway but 75mph is all she's got. 65mph is pretty much it for comfortable driving speed.
If I were to do it again, instead of working over the 2F, I would go with a standard 350 and build it to around 250 - 275hp with a torque...
Man, that is tempting. I loved my 40.
But, I suppose the whole point of what I am doing is to offload projects so sadly I must decline.
But...$6k and the 80 is yours.
No, I pulled out all of the carpet but have not done anything with it yet. If it does not sell, I suppose I need to do something about it.
I have a '74 Chevy, a Harley, and this 80. I just bought a new house and my kids are getting into stuff now so I have to pick and choose. I really don't...
On a good tank:
14.5 mpg hwy
12.5 mpg city
sucks and going to get worse with the armor and lift
50 mpg Harley Sportster
Now you see why I ride to work most days. :grinpimp:
Great idea but I agree with most in the respect of the price. $15k isn't going to be enough for you to make it worth your time.
For example, I am building a similar rig and here are my estimated-ish costs to date and I get parts for CHEAP. I also do most of the work myself:
$4,500 94...
That is cool and smart...I hope it holds up but you saved yourself lots of dough and it looks good
I built one out of an aluminum ATV ramp and some 1/2" flatbar. In total, it cost me $62. I am using the stock roof rack and U-bolts and have not had any problems, just don't load a ton...
That is cheap...but I am assuming that is only labor? I had mine rebuilt a few months ago and changed all bearings, seals, etc but kept the ring and pinion. It was $680 but I used all OEM parts.
Thanks for the comments...lots to think about. If there is a problem with mine, I can just torch it but people who may buy them may not be able to 'make them fit' if there is a conflict.
For my style of wheeling (weekend runs with occasional mountian trips) these skids will be more than...
Sealers can work but you have to use 'em every oil change. My '73 Chevy truck had leaks and I used the stuff along with high milage oil.
...going on 3 years now with no leaks but if I don't add it when I change the oil EVERY time, it will start up again.
Definatly not factory.
If it were me, and it was, I would remove it all. Once you disconnect it from your main harness that lives around the steering shaft, follow each wire and terminate it all. You will be much better off getting it all out and eliminating the possiblity of a short...
