Hate to bring up an old thread, but it's mine, so I don't feel so bad. Over the last year since this problem happened we have, as pointed out in previously, replaced all the injectors with new, I know we probably could have saved a boat load by rebuilding or such, but it's the wife's +...
Thanks Benjamin! Matter of fact, our cruiser is in Schertz as we speak. Bob of Foreign Affair is our mechanic. If you are ever in NB, look for the greenie and that'll be us (or my wife at least!).
I considered doing it myself, but as my wife likes to say...I have way to many projects and...
Doug,
97 FZJ80, 171K miles. We are the 3rd owner, first was a leasing company. 2nd was an officer in the USN and the cruiser spent a year in the UK where it appears to have gotten some quickly added front and rear fog lights and a switch stuck under the dash. (done at the customs?)
We got...
Just an update. We used our AMEX coverage for the tow and I was expecting a ~$30 charge. Ended up the entire $55 tow is free via AMEX -> Coachtech(sp?) -> Local tow company. That paid for the fee...at least this year.
Alrighty, it's #3. I pulled the plugs this morning and #3 came out wet, smelling of gas and really clean! I'm having it hauled in to our mechanic for $30. There is a consensus on what the problem is as our mechanic guessed the same thing.
I tried tapping the injector to no avail. I was...
Gonna hit the sack, looks like a long day tomorrow. Many thanks to Doug and Beno, you've been of immeasurable help!
A bit of reflection: I was supposed to be in Houston this week for my business, but I've been running a fever and am on antibiotics and decided to stay home. If I hadn't stayed...
I tried checking for the pump running with the ignition in ON, but either it isn't running or I can't hear it...which is very probable. We have low cover tonight and the sound from the Interstate is really carrying plus thunder and wind all around. To top it off, I have hearing damage from to...
Thanks both Beno and Doug. I've checked the fluids and nothing looks bad there. Oil a bit dirty, but due this month. Water looks good.
I have both the lc and house fire extinguishers outside in the driveway since I saw gas.
I did notice that the boot on #2 was loose, I pulled it up with...
When my wife came home this evening my daughter and I went out to greet her (we'd been playing in the sandbox) and the cruiser was missing and I noticed a bit of blue smoke when I told her to kill it.
After we got the daughter off to bed I went to investigate. On starting it feels like it's...
Grench,
Thanks for the input, that is what I feared after looking at my wand and cord. Is it because the actual retainer in the housing is worn away (or otherwise)?
RavenTai and others,
Do these pictures help clarify the situation? My concern is that he wand and cord may be intact and ordering those parts from CDan (or others) will not help me solve the problem.
It appears to me from looking at the wand and housing that there isn't a segment stuck in the...
What is weird on mine is that nothing looks broken, the cord is intact and the antenna is intact...just no longer attached to the LC. It looks like the brass retainter (I assume that's what holds it in the housing) at the base of the wand may have worn down, allowing it to pass through the...
Is it possible that I could reuse my wand? it appears in good working order (extends, not bent, attached to the cord), just not attached anymore.
I guess I'm wondering why/how it came out and won't be able to check until the morning. I am kind of hoping that in the best case I can just feed...
Yes, it's an amazing Miata: locked, ARB'ed, convertible...or not.
Sorry for any confusion, the antenna problem is on my wife's 96 FZJ80, she put the "squirted out" wand and cord on the trunk of the Miata awaiting my return.
While I was in Houston this week my wife informed me the power antenna "squirted out". I arrived home today to find that it had done exactly that. I have what appears to be an antenna and white plastic drive cord in good working shape, but laying on the trunk of the Miata. There appears to be...
