3L + Turbo oil blow by

So not exactly the same situation but, the stock crankcase vent hose fitting on my '90 era 3L was very small, like 3/8'' id. I haven't seen a '97 to compare. Increasing the size of this fitting and hose accordingly had a dramatic effect on lowering high rpm mystery oil consumption for me. I went...

Not getting enough fuel to a 3l

Long shot here, Have you tried to rev it with engine running from under the hood while verifying linkage is moving freely? Once "fixed" a lazy 70 series by adjusting the in cab throttle stop under the pedal. Wondering if you've got some sort of physical interference? Maybe a wonky cable...

    3L turbo upgrade

See the earlier post by GTSsportcoupe above for a closer to correct Mitsu part number, chances are I was trying to get one along the same lines. The details escape me just now.

    3L turbo upgrade

That project was abandoned, waaaaaay too big. Much has been learned since then. Have been using a Mitsubishi manufactured ( if recall correctly its been a while, like 5-7..? years...) TD04-HL-13T. Seems to me there is one with a larger exhaust housing and one with a smaller one, possibly the...

Where did you go with your Mini Truck or 4Runner this week?

Weekend quest into Canada's westernmost province, British Columbia. Right around 90 miles one way from pavement. One way in one way out. (Unless you know somebody with a barge that can float you down the lake..) Bears, grouse, trout, sketchy bridges, radio access one lane cliff roads...

    1982 Toyota diesel pickup - fuel/water separator

I've had good luck with partsouq.com for quite a few years. Zillions of oem parts as well as diagrams, can punch in your frame number directly and see what comes up or find your way around the site manually. Theres alot more model variations than one might think. I dont know what yours looks...

Stopped by the snow last weekend. Had to head for southern Alberta, too many fires further north.

Where did you go with your Mini Truck or 4Runner this week?

On a frosty morning quest to the edge! ....of a big foggy hole with sweet f/a to be seen today.. will be continued on a sunnier occasion. In the meantime, maybe don't show this to any flat earthers. :hillbilly: Also, jealous of anybody who isn't currently living in a frozen horror show...

    Dual lunchbox lockers

I don't think you'll like it as long as truck is still full time, BUT I havent actually tried it with open center diff... it could be smooth sailing. I have run front lunchboxes in 3 different vehicles, solid axle hilux, first gen taco and an HDJ81 with part time kit. With front axle engaged...

A lot of dash lights on. HDJ81

Ooooodles of suitable units available, some on the shelf at a parts store near you. Pulley can be swapped with hand tools, local auto electric shop can also rebuild.

A lot of dash lights on. HDJ81

In the interest of further diagnosis one can also "bench" test alt on the vehicle if you manually supply voltage to IG and S terminals on alt side, while monitoring voltage at big stud or battery if confident that path is ok. Back to that plug though....

A lot of dash lights on. HDJ81

Should verify voltage at large stud on alt is same as at battery just in case, if its same as battery we know that path isnt compromised

A lot of dash lights on. HDJ81

Ok, 98 percent you need an alt, but lets verify shall we. Easy check is 'charge' or 'alt' fuse, may be in underhood box, may be in box in cab near your knee when seated. If i recall alt is 3 wire plug, one is keyed power (says hey wake up), one is 'sense' voltage (determines how much to charge...

Dont overthink it, this vehicle doesnt rely on an ecm to control alternator. Once again, I've seen this before, twice. Both caused by lack of charging. Did you tap alternator with vehicle running?

A lot of dash lights on. HDJ81

Yep your dash voltmeter and big red charge light tells me the same, why all the rest come on I can't say but I've seen it on two other hdj81's. Can give alt a tappytaptap as well with vehicle running.

Give alternator plug a wiggle, unplug and plug it back in. While your under the hood make sure belts are present decent and tensioned. Have seen this before fear not.

    1kzte Circulating Block Heater

Lower rad hose type is also a simple alternative. Concept is drain coolant, identify area with enough space, cut hose, clamp unit in place, refill. Done. Need to be sized to hose inside dia, they look like this. Much more compact install than larger canister looking 'circulating heater'...
