Anyone successfully fix a 71 code?

Got a 71 code at highway speeds after a about 10 minutes. Decided to pull my EGR valve. Ran some throttle body cleaner through the metal parts and chipped away at the grime. Also took a wire brush to the EGR sensor after unscrewing it from it's mounting. The grime on there was about 2mm...

    Knuckle Rebuild -- Almost There!

It's an 89. That being said, the rivet job was incredibly easy once I knew what I was doing. Drill a small pilot hole in the center and then use larger and larger bits until the rivet falls off. For reinstallation, I used a buttonhead bolt and put blue threadlocker on the threads once I...

    Knuckle Rebuild -- Almost There!

I decided to do a knuckle rebuild after seeing my knuckles go from bad to worse. At first, the knuckle housing seemed to be wet with grease/oil. Then, I started to see really thin oil dripping off of the knuckle housing screws on the bottom. Marlin Crawler sold a knuckle rebuild kit and from...

    89 FJ62 Transmission Problem

Rodney flush is a good idea. I was having all sorts of problems with my transmission before, but I dropped the ATF pan, replaced the filter, and did the flush. Works like a charm now. Only costs ATF--used Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic ATF.

Would a ground do this? Aren't the dash lights on separate fuses/relays?

Intro FJ 62 and Tranny Overheat Problems

Wow, was the clunking from P to R the only indication that you had a worn output shaft?

Intro FJ 62 and Tranny Overheat Problems

I don't get a rumbling sound at 50 and it actually shifts very nice if power is maintained on the accelerator. Only will it "clang" or "clunk" into the next gear if it's accelerating and you take your foot off of the pedal. When I bought the cruiser, it had 31" tires on it and I was getting...

Intro FJ 62 and Tranny Overheat Problems

I've recently bought this FJ 62 with 247,000 Miles on it after looking around for a good off road vehicle (looking at Cherokee XJs, but my experience with Toyotas made me buy the FJ). It's named Chum Guzzler because of it's stellar gas mileage and it's on highway performance. Off road it's an...
