    Spontaneous high mpg?

Colorado has a weird gravity vortex or just no ethanol or something. I get exactly 13.6 mpg in my fat pig of an 80, but hit 16+ in western Kansas and Colorado. That’s with 35s, RTT, easily 1500 lbs over stock.

How to: Remove ACSD system on 1HD-FT

Thanks for the great write up, I’m still up in the air about deleting mine or not. I’ll be getting rid of the glow screen when I install my PDI intercooler and I’m worried that cold starts in 20 degree weather might be a problem.

    Stuck torque converter…help!

Thanks! Please ignore the disastrous shape of my shop currently. 😂 300k miles of oil leaks turns a trans to stealth mode.

    Stuck torque converter…help!

Those six bolts were all present and accounted for. My mistake was the fsm says ten trans bolts and I counted the one starter bolt that doesn’t do double duty among them. No harm done and the TC came out with the trans with no drama.

    Stuck torque converter…help!

Thanks brother! I had cracked the top passenger bolt loose with a breaker bar and run it out with my 3/8 impact, so I thought. 🥴 Got it fully removed and trans is on the floor of the shop. Job 50% complete. 😁

    Stuck torque converter…help!

I’m pulling the trans and tcase as a unit from my 96 landcruiser. 1FZ and A343, usual spec. All the bolts are out, all connectors disconnected, followed the FSM directions. The trans absolutely refuses to separate from the motor. Pulling it from the crossmember mount to the frame with a come...

    Land Cruiser with a $10,000 - 12,000 Budget?

You don't need a 4" lift for 35s. My 315s fit just fine with my TJM 50mm lift, no welding required...

Signs of a bad EGR? P0402

P401 is more common for EGR problems. P402 can be several things, including bad O2 sensors or bad cats. ETA: I had 402 and 420 mixed up, my mistake. I've had to deal with 401 on both 80s and 420 on one...

    ARB turn signal help

They work in parallel with your stock signals, it's no problem.

    No "D" Club

So do I but I'm an electronics nerd and had the stuff laying around so I modded it anyway. I move my scan gauge between vehicles from time to time so it's nice having a stock gauge that actually works.

    No "D" Club

I think it's quite easy, but I've had my gauge clusters out several times. A couple of screws to take the lower dash out, the middle section just pulls out, two screws to pull the top trim piece out and you have access. The only tricky part is maneuvering the gauge cluster itself out of the...

    No "D" Club

I just bought 20 "t4 neo wedge" LEDs from eBay. They will fit all the center light positions. I bought LEDs for all my other dash lights as well but can't really recommend them. The large ones are super bright (too bright for me) and the mid sized ones are unreliable. The small T4 size have...

I replaced all dead lights on both 80s with LEDs and couldn't be happier. I hated no D.

    Oil Pan Seal Leak?

I thought mine was leaking from there but upon further investigation it is the power steering pump that's leaking. Take a good look at yours. The oil level sender is a piece of cake to re-seal, it's 4 10mm bolts and a connector...

    door lock problem?

If you are cleaning carpets, the rear section comes out easily, just a bolt for the right side third row seatbelt and the metal strip at the tailgate and you can remove and scrub it.

    ??Replace Valve Cover Gasket?

The half moon plugs don't need to come out, unlike other toyota engines I've had.

speaker size on 96 fj80? and suggestions

I just replaced all my speakers in two 80s. I ended up using identical 6.5s in front and back on both of them. The rears are a piece of cake, even easier than the fronts were. You don't even need to pull the door panels. Pull the crappy factory stuff, buy some 6.5s (I used pioneers in one...

    ??Replace Valve Cover Gasket?

Do that, my gasket slipped out near the firewall, and got cut, and puked oil all over. I hate doing a job twice.

    Brake Line Replacement

What he said, we call them "line wrenches" or "flare nut wrenches" in the US though, you can get a three piece set from amazon for under $20. They work way better than regular open end wrenches. You can also use vice grips, but of course you will mangle the fitting if you're not careful.

    FZJ80 O2 sensor Replacement

I used denso sensor for front and rear on my 96 and my 97. Both work great, no codes and a tiny bit better mileage.
