    Mean Green Alternator died

Thank you all for your inputs and insights. I am still awaiting a call back from MG, I'll give it until Tuesday then probably rip out this one and put in a GM, maybe have it rebuilt if it is not too expensive.

    Mean Green Alternator died

I have been running a Mean Green alternator on my FJ60 for a little over a year now. Last night the voltage regulator died and I barely made it back home . Has anyone else experienced a MG failure after such a short period of time. Went to the MG Industries web site and they claim only a one...

    Mounting extra switches

I'm adding a compressor and rear Air Locker plus some light and want to have a decent looking "switch housing" easily accessible. I'm sure there are lots of idea out there, for now I'm looking at mounting the switches via some type of "L" Bracket underneath the factory mounted buttons for rear...

Molded Carpet & Vinyl Sets and Wheel Well/Arch Covers

Just wanted to say I purchased the brown cargo area. It fits like a glove and looks as close to original as I have ever seen. If my front and middle carpets were in need of replacement, I would gladly purchase the new ones for the front and middle. Anyway, if anyone has any second thoughts...

    Fuel Starvation/Electrical Problems

In reading the replies (thank you all) I think I'll replace the coil and igniter first before the actual distributor. Seems like that is the cost efficient way to go about this. if those two get replaced with known used parts then the only other option is the distributor. One question...

    Fuel Starvation/Electrical Problems

Have an 85 FJ60 that runs great around town. Almost every time I get her on the road, after about 100 miles or so, I start to get hesitation, chugging and what feels like fuel starvation. Usually occurs about 2500RPM 65-70 MPH (I have a 5 speed installed). For a long time I thought fuel...

FJ 60 Loss of power and overheating

Valves were adjusted and set about 6 months ago, that's not the issue. Tearing into the Beast bit by bit. THis will take a long time, working on it as I can. Oh well, it is what it is.

FJ 60 Loss of power and overheating

Did the compression test,#3 & #4 cylinders are dead. Some fluid in 5&6 with cylinder scoring in #6. Looks like a rebuild, was really hoping it would be an easier and less expensive fix. I hate when a plan doesn't come together. Now I'm praying the head and the even the block are not...

FJ 60 Loss of power and overheating

Don't mean to soound so new, but I never have heard of the exhaust diverter flap, are you taking about the flap the pivots underneath the intake/carb area to help the warm up process?

FJ 60 Loss of power and overheating

I guess I should have explained all I did prior to writing this post. The fuel filter is clean, all vacuum lines (that I can see) are connected, fuel is good, octane is 91. I'm thinking some type of failure internally, just can't figure out what, and more importantly why.

FJ 60 Loss of power and overheating

I have a 85 FJ60 which recently starting overheating and has significant loss of power. I was thinking Head gasket but there is no fluid loss in the radiator, no smoking tail pipe and no liquid (other than oil) in the oil sump. Anyone have any ideas. Hoping its not an engine rebuild. THanks...

    3 core rad or 2?

I live in Phoenix and I replaced my OE radiator last year with a brass 4 core from Performance Radiator, I got a great price and the instal was easy (relatively speaking) and my 60 ran nice and cool with the A/C blasting all summer long. It does take a bit to warm up in Flagstaff in the winter...

    Rear Defroster Help

You can get replacement glass through Toyota if you want to pay a hefty price. I know all the glass with the exception of the rear defrosted tail gate is available. I'm replacing mine next month but using the Toyota for the Rear window defroster. Costing me about $475 I think.

    Hand Throttle Installation

I found the screw holes and can see how to attach everything, not I have to become a contortionist to somehow get underneath there and fix the bracket to the pedal box. Oh to be a very young kid again and be able to fit easily into small tight spaces like underneath the dash. Thanks for all...

    Hand Throttle Installation

In looking at the link you sent along, where does the bracket (78429) mount up to underneath? I swear I've looked and I'm either blind or not looking int he right area. Please advise.

    Hand Throttle Installation

OK, I ordered and received the Hand Throttle from Specter and it came last night. In looking at the parts (no instrutions included) there is a bracket with two screw holes that attach underneath the dash near the gas pedal. I've looked and looked and could not find where to attach the bracket...

Hand Throttle as a Poor Man's Cruise Control

Just curious if anyone has used the Hand Throttle on long FLAT stretches of road as a poor man's cruise control? Installation seems to be a breeze and it would sure be a nice relief for my right leg on those 300-400 mile stretches to West Texas on I-10. Any drawbacks? Can the throttle maintain...
