    value of 1980 FJ40

I'm waiting on some more pictures from the owner. I'm in Mississippi and it's in Alabama so I'm going to try to find somebody over that way to check it out before I make any decisions. This vehicle is not going to be a resto project but one I can drive around and take short trips in and it be...

    value of 1980 FJ40

Just talked to the owner again and he said it does have power steering but it needs a new high pressure hose. And it only has one really bad rust spot. I also found out that it is a build date of 9/79

    value of 1980 FJ40

Im trying to get a good idea of what a 1980 fj40 might be worth. I found one for sale that looks to be in decent condition. 2f 4 speed, runs and drives good. It only has a soft top and doors though. It does have some rust on the floor boards. The guy is asking $4500 for it. Is that a good...

Fj40 F engine dipstick tube question

For all of the mechanics out there I have a quick question. Yesterday I was checking the oil in my 40 and when I pulled the dipstick out the dipstick tube fell out of the block. The tube was not broken or anything, it just was not tight in the block. So I just stuck it back in there. My...

    Anybody here runs these tires?

If I'm not mistaken I believe those are Simex tires, they require a tube also if I remember reading right.

    Disk Brake Conversion Locking Up

I have the same kit as you on my '69. I replaced my master cylinder and added a booster when I did the conversion and before a proportioning valve everything was acting up, after a proportioning valve everything clamps good and releases good. I did have to play with the rod somewhat to get a...

Weather was to beautiful not to take the 40 out for a drive, so I took her to the sand bars over on the MS River. Not the best picture but pretty good for iPhone

    fuel tank skid plate

All I did to replace the flimsy factory 1/8" skid plate on my 69'40 was use 3/16" plate and bend it in a break to the same shape as the factory one, simple and cheap. Also where the strap hook on the frame I welded tabs to bolt the skid to the frame instead of having it hanging from straps.

I guess You can call this the beginning of a Build

Cleaning up some closets at my parents house I came across the original F engine repair manual and the owners manual that came with the 40. The repair manual was printed in 1966. Never would of thought they would of survived all these years.

One of my buddy's works for a company called LoPresti Aviation that manufactures HID aircraft landing lights. He dropped by the office today and brought me a set.
