Obviously my train example was over the top, which is what I said. But, sorry, if you have a head on accident and one vehicle is expending energy using crumple zones, you are not expending that energy for that one vehicle only; you are expending it from the entire accident and both vehicles and...
That isn't the physics I know. If the F150 deformed and absorbed energy, it also absorbed energy that would be transfered into the 80, thus making the entire accident 'better' for both drivers.
Take this scenario into the extremes. A train doesn't have any crumple zones but if it hit a...
The stock manifold would not be appropriate as it has two exhaust outputs (for the twin turbos). An aftermarket manifold, OTOH, may be something that could be modified, although I would imagine that the sizes may be significantly different.
Anyone have some relevant measurements of a 1FZ...
FWIW, the 2JZ-GTE in the Supra comes from the factory with a Toyota MLS HG. This is after major HG problems with the 7M-GTE from the earlier Supra. Even Toyota recognizes the benefits.
Almost no one upgrades the HG in the 2JZ-GTE. The stocker is good for well over 1000HP; 3x factory...
Yes, the key there is he lowered the compression. What I was getting at is at stock compression, you've had a hard time running that much boost without also having to run some high octane race fuel.
Edit: Actually, 9:1 is not that bad. I had in my mind that our static compression ratio was...
nice! but, no way you are doing that on a stock block/head with any gas you can easily buy! ;p
I'm dreaming of giving my 1FZ the treatment I gave my 2JZ. :grinpimp:
It should take about 6-7 psi to get a stock 1FZ-FE to over 400lbs of torque and probably near 12 psi to get it to 380HP. Obviously you cannot run 12psi on a stock motor.
edit: these are pretty rough calculations
