On the headers I received the width of the header’s plate steel flange was thicker than the casting of the intake manifold. There are bolts/washer that torque to both the header and the intake. Those flanges need to be the same width so the torque is evenly applied to the sealing surfaces...
I've been running a set of Man A Fre headers going on 10 yrs (think i paid half as much back then) and I would highly recommend them. It is important to take the time to match the flange plate thickness of the headers to the intake manifold so when the bolts are torqued they apply even...
There’s several possibilities. Differential bushings are often the problem, but so are worn out axles and the hub flanges. Search this forum for information on either and you’ll see similar experiences to mine - once you replace the bushings and that noise is gone you here the axle click. So...
Inspect the sealant in the rain gutters, more than likely the leak is coming from here...

Just completed replacing the bushings, thought I’d share a successful technique I used for pressing the front cushion into the diff housing that I haven’t seen in this thread.
I didn’t succeed at using a floor Jack and didn’t have immediate access to a ball joint tool. As I looked at the...
I've never thought twice of spraying the engine bay considering LC's are engineered to do this... I wash my engine every spring to rinse away the winter road salts and have never had an issue. Granted I don't jamb the wand inches away from critical electrical parts to clean them, but a good...
My suspension is coming up on 20yrs old, so maybe there have been some changes by OME over the years with the use of sleeves. Not sure why they're there. I replaced all the busshings about 1.5 yrs ago and it all went back together just fine with all new pins and shackles. Thanks for the advice.
No doubt on needing new rubber bushings. Its the bushing rotating on the pin that provides the movement, not the sleeve rotating in the eye. All the other sleeves are tight, I know because I replaced all bushings about 1.5 yrs ago.. Thanks for pointing out your springs don't have them, the OME...
Recently noticed an issue with the front right leaf spring eye. Notice the gap between the bushing and the spring and how the spring eye has eroded the bushing on the left in the photo. I've determined that the spring can slide laterally over the inner steel tube sleeve that the rubber...
Curious, do you drive with the steering wheel in the full tilt-up position? that moves the key switch closer to the dash. with the column tilted down, its typically not as close as you describe.. that may explain the dimensional question.
Something to check..catalytic converter, when the element inside degrades to a point it will start rolling around causing a racket. Especially if it sounds as though its directly below the drivers seat, which is where the cat is.
Vasaline works. I"ve been using it for years. wipe some on at the beginning of winter, then just wipe it off in the spring so as not to attract dust/dirt.
Nice rig! And great info on some projects I've been considering for my 60.
Curious to hear your thoughts on the longer shackles in front. What springs do you have, OME? I too have the stink bug stance and was eyeing longer shackles to push the front up a bit. I like the way your truck...
The MAF header I have is 2-Y configuration, so different. From the glimpse of the header flange I can see in the photo, it looks to be about 3/8" plt, which is similar. Found a photo and mine, measured .357", still has my Sharpie mark on it. You can see where I ground the exhaust flange.
I...
No, i did not have to file the aluminum intake, never touched it with a file. Being that the flanges of the exhaust were thicker than the intake I only had to subtract form the exhaust header flange to get them even. If by chance the intake was larger, i would have used shims to make up the gap...
