I have noticed this past week that at the beginning of the week the volt meter was low, not even 13 volts but as the week went on the gauge was showing higher each day, but also starting low after glowing and starting the truck. I'm starting to believe the batteries are weak and the alternator...
Hi, To go back to the beginning. I had complete alternator break down. No charge at all, only running on batteries (has 2 but still 12 volts). Had it rebuilt with used parts at a shop. They said it puts out 14 volts which it does. I'm not sure what the volt gauge read before this. I don't...
Hi, Drove truck to and from work. Voltage stays just below 13 volts with headlights and blower on . I hope this is enough to keep batteries charged. Same at 1000 or 2200 rpm.
I not really sure how much volts it drops. I,m taking it to work, a half hour drive and keep an eye on it to see what it actually does. The alternator is stock, don't know what the amps are. thanks
When my 1983 bj 60 is running the volt meter reads 14 volts, when I turn on the headlights the voltage drops, when I turn the heater blower on the voltage drops again. Would this be alternator or regulator problems ?
Yes it is the fuseable link coming from the + battery terminal. tested it with a meter and there is no power, can't tell by looking at it. So now to fix the link. Thanks for all the help with this.
i had no power going to my glow plugs because there was no power going to a round type relay (don't know the name ) that is attached to the glow plug buzzbar by a thick guage wire. this relay should have power on one large terminal and then to the other terminal when the relay is activated...

Just bought a 1975 truck with 20r engine and wondering if there is a owners manual that can de down loaded. ( I know this is for 79 and up but it's still a toyota) thanks
My front springs needs replacing. One side is completely broke. How big of a job is it to replace them and what should I look out for? Where can I get new springs in Canada ( Nova Scotia) or a good place to get rebuilt. Is it just a straight forward mechanical repair? Thanks
I found this Delphi Glow Plug Catalog at . http://dieselaftermarket.delphi.com/en-us/catalogsandfyers/glowplugcatalog/ It has cross reference and tech info...Click on the icon (Glow Plug and Controllers ) It is a PDF file ....
I installed the Ngk 107R plug thinking the were high voltage because 10.5 V is stamped on them and glowed them like they were NGK 147T, which must have burnt them out. I cross referenced this with Delphi Glow Plug Catalog and it seems to varifiy this. So I think this should work now and thanks...
After 4 starts with the glow time of 20 secs or less all four NGK Y107R 10.5 volt glow plugs burnt out. No continuity at all. These are being replaced under warranty. I found a phone number for NGK and talked to a tech rep. He said these Plugs are a fast glow type and get to their temperature in...
1983 BJ60 Glow Plugs
Thanks for the reply. I'm going to bypass the resistor. Just wondering how long I could keep the plugs on without any damage...thanks
My 1983 BJ60 Glow Plug timer has broken .I hooked up a manual switch (Wilson) and have Changed to the 10.5 volt glow plugs. Will this work or do I need to bypass the resistor going to the buzz bar. I have read all the threads on glow plugs and not sure if I should leave the resistor in place...
My 1983 BJ60's clutch squeals when shifting gears. as the clutch is being released and even after it is released. Sometimes just a little squack and other times it will go on thru all the gears. Also sometimes it will stop if I double clutch and other times it stops on its own. Yesterday it went...
