I've been thinking about options for the backlit gauge folks who don't want to put a vinyl sticker over the backlit kmh numbering.
One idea is to keep the current gauge face and leave the outer kmh numbers backlight, and use Dry Transfer decals to put the mph numbers on the inner side of the...
@JVZii @FJ73Texas - these look great! But from what I gather, still not later model backlight option available, correct? I have a 1994 75 series, with 180kmh plastic face
@GTV - Holy (or Hole-y lol) smokes, you saved me! I didn't realize what I was looking at in your first post - should have read it more thoroughly. I successfully started my "Cup Holder" install this morning ;). Lift gate is open! Glad there's some ingenious folks on here that save me from doing...
@awesomeissquid - there's about 4 inches. The storage hatch is hinged at the top, so the bottom swings out and I can barely get my hand in up to my wrist, and only on the far corners. Nowhere close to being able to reach anything.
Well, this will be fun. The storage box with drawer might need to be cut up. The box is mounted to the vehicle, and there’s no access to the bolts with the drawer in place. And I can’t get the drawer out, with the tailgate closed 😂 The drawer slides have a rivet head on the inside, so the tracks...
I've searched the forums, and googled, and most of the tailgate issues are relegated to the top hatch not opening (from inside and/or outside). However, my issue is that the lower half won't open. As far as I can tell, there is no locking mechanism in the bottom half, so it doesn't matter if the...
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I’m going to try to have the rotors turned this weekend, since there should be plenty of meat left on them, and swap in a set of Hawk LTS pads, and see how it goes.
I agree on the driving style, and after the first short lived rotor set I was pretty cognizant...
I've gone through TWO sets of rotors now in under 15k miles!! :bang:
I purchased my built cruiser with 103k miles on it, and according to the friend I bought it from was running OEM rotors and pads. At about 151k miles, I finally replaced the front brakes with OEM rotors and Terrain Tamer pads...
It's been a while since the last update, but things are moving along, and @ca18sean is doing some great work on the body to get her cleaned up before a respray.
So the metal hoop is removable as well?? Of all the 70s I’ve seen, this is the only picture I’ve ever come across with the hoop “removed”, aside from the crawlers with roll bars, where I presumed the hoops were cut out. I wonder why we don’t see the full convertible style more often. Looks...
The swap was really straight forward, and can easily be done in a weekend. One of the fuel line hoses needed to be extended by about 12-14", and you need to route a new vacuum line back to the canister. Other than that, will install a 1HD-T airbox lid and hoses going to the turbo, and a new...
It's been a while.. but have a few updates. OME suspension installed all the way around, and today the 1HD-T finally went in. There's a few things remaining to be buttoned up before she fires back up, but the swap was pretty straight forward. Hoping to get some momentum with the progress, but...
@TurbodreamZ - Yea, I noticed that the aftermarket one was slightly bigger when I received it. I finally got around to trying to install it today, and ran into exactly what you said. The bracket is not quite the right size. I took the grinder to the bottom so that the alternator could clear it...
@svsisu - I just looked at my alternator, and I have the oval plug, so no adapter needed. I also think that the bracket is the same. I think I'll give this a go, since it has the added benefit of higher amperage over OEM. Buy the time I have it rebuilt, I'll probably be close in price anyways...
@roscoFJ73 It’s a 1994 Troopy with the 1HZ. My OEM alternator looks exactly like the rare electric one, with the dual belt pulley.
@svsisu - Thanks! I will take a look at my plug and see what it looks like.
