I went ahead and authorized the service. Will be around $2,600 with tax. I'm SURE I paid too much but I don't know if I trust or know enough about my local mechanic to have them do the work.
Hey folks! I currently have my LX470 in the shop getting brakes fixed. My LX is right at 181K miles, the service guy at the Lexus dealership told me about the 180k service etc... Problem is, my wife and I are not working so spending extra money is not something we're trying to do. However...
I'm looking for a Door Stop or Door Check for LX 470 2002. I'm getting totally ****ed over by a body shop. Dealership quoted $190, body shop quoted $150. Took the LX in for dent and paint fix (covered by State Farm) on driver's side rear door. They fixed the dent and repainted both doors but...
I’ve gone full circle and definitely considered other models. We need that 3rd row which limits our options. Strongly considering a GX. But I have good taste and none of those other models feel as good as an LC does. I’m probably gonna end up buying a GX. In that scenario maybe I’ll keep the LX...
Thanks for your input. I posted a thread in the Windy City LC member forum, asking for suggestions on a local mechanic. The one reply was that there is no special requirements to work on my LX but he visited this thread and seems to agree that for the most part, I should not worry about the...

For most of you guys, this appears to be a cool hobby but it isn't a hobby for me. Can't I have a nice reliable vehicle too without it being...
We've been going there for a couple years now. Why would he now say we need a bunch of stuff done? Can you recommend a mechanic to do the belt/water pump in Chicago? Thanks for your comment.
I posted this thread in the 100 series forum and appears my mechanic may not know what he’s doing. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic to work on my LX 470? Much appreciated!
I appreciate your confidence in me but let me just reiterate that I’ve never even done an oil change. I’ve changed a tire once. I’m sure I could do it but I don’t have the time, patience, tools or desire to do so. I work on excel spreadsheets and play guitar, that’s all I got!
The owner of the shop told me that the muffler stuff, if not fixed, could leak CO2 into the car and is dangerous. True or not? He started off asking.... do you have little kids? When I responded yes, he made it sound like that could be dangerous.
