My electric locker wont disengage.
Right now the vehicle just get's used off pavement.
Am I likely to damage the diff by going on pavement?

I've got a set of 1990 LH78 axles with an electric locker in the rear.
The stock 4:88 gears don't cut it with the 35" tyres and the 3.1 Izuzu/Trooper engine/transmission/transfercase set up.
Can a 5:29 ring and pinion be bolted in without undue modifications?

I have acquired a set of axles from 1990 LH78.
I checked the ratio by marking the tire and rotating the tire one revolution while counting the number of times the pinion turns.
For one revolution I get 2.2 revolutions on the pinion, works out the same front and rear.

I just got a line on one with about 60k on it no transfer case and no shifter. What about 500-600 maybe.... or less. Is there a fairly easy way to just to open it up and make sure I'm not getting a POS? what should I look for?
I just got a line on an H41 with a 2 piece transfer case. I see that MAF sells lower gearing for the later model transfer case. Anyone with experience in this area? Is this a viable way to go on my 77. I know the later models have a different parking brake. Does the line lock parking brake work ok?
I've got a new saginaw set up in my 40 with 35's. It drives great now with new tyres. what if anything will installing a steering damper do for me? will it protect my tyres from premature wear? If I should put one if which type a single or double?
