Purchased a 2 f off eBay for 800 to replace my f and a half.they said the compression was over 150. Turned out he was telling the truth. Got in running today purrs like a kitten.

Well my girlfriend wanted to get me something for Christmas and I may have hinted a shop manual. She called Toyota dealer and a young man answered. She asked if they could order the shop manuals for a Toyota FJ40. He replied Toyota did not make a FJ40. I think that was made by Land Rover.
Well the timing gears were fine? Turns out the reason the valve train was not turn when I manually turned the harmonic balancer was the shear key inside was broke and it has worn the hole out where the key goes. Looks like a new crank is needed. I will post pics later.
I realize that gears would last much longer than a chain set up. I will pop off the timing cover this weekend and I will let you know what I find. But right now I can turn the
Crank and the valve train is not moving.
So I have done some research on the forum about timing gears and did not find much. I bought the 74 FJ40 and the PO said the owner was blown. Pulled the valve cover and turned the motor and the valve train does not move. From what I understand they have gears not a chain. I plan on digging in...
