Late to this Party. Are the ORIs stout enough for all the weight. Thought about using those since unlike springs they don't push you off the rocks. Id squeeze by with my LT and an 8" which is there smallest
Swing outs take the extra weigh associated with aftermarket wheels and tires, fuel cans, Hi-Lifts and other stuff and place the weight onto the bumper via a hinge. Yes you can strap a 33" tire to the back and many have done this but before long, the rear door will begin to sag as Toyota designed...
If you were into spending some money and wanted ease of use, longevity (mine have detailed 1000's) and ability to work in small tight places, then look into Cyclo's dual orbiter.

From a standpoint of cleaning and removing small rust deposits, I've always used commercial strength wire wheel cleaner/ wheel acid.
Its can be applied with a spray bottle (diluted mine 4:1) and allowed to sit for approximately 30 seconds then sprayed off with pressure washer with a 25...
Just read through the build- one word Superb! I ended up with an LoD and the quality while on the surface was decent, the space outs and fitting was off creating a lot of adaptations to make work. Its nice to see craftsmanship

I liked my SAW when I ran it. The only thing that made it suck was when I took it from 2.5" to 3". They make it a 2.5 for a reason and it rode like a dream that way. I was greedy for the 1/2" and my tooth fillings paid dearly for it.
I agree with Chris. The newer 8.2" seem to be a little more stout. Aside from the truss kit welded onto the Aussie version, I cant see spending that kinda coin for basically the same tubes and diff. I had Baz price it out and it was close to 4000 from AU.
With the front end being stock meaning no aftermarket bumper or winch, I would say stay with the medium springs. OME stuff rides great and for those who are all caught up in the coilovers are best really should ride in an FJ with this set up. Plush on the road and great off road too. I was...
Crap is this build thread whored out on every Yota forum???:flipoff2:
I think they have a spot on the Prius forum for 3 link rear ends....:flipoff2::D

The diff drop actually only angles one side down with longer bolts and a spacer for each side. I never liked that once the diff drop was in place the factory (or aftermarket) skids could no longer be used underneath the center to lift the front end.
You lose all the ground clearance you just...
Some nice looking parts there Chris. You'll have the whole thing recycled in no time:D
So that exhaust is way too nice for mud- I'm sure a couple of trips to the field it will dull down a bit- in the mean time it will double as camping mirror:p
I would agree with just about all on here
Tires and sliders...
For the rest- I would consider Skids and before a bumper and winch since it seems that just about everyone with an FJ has one- Id suggest new seats. I put some PRP's in mine and couldny be happier. When off camber- you stay...
