Sold my '80 in July and have this to sell:
Very heavily constructed, interior tire mount that connects to the Left side wheel well. Bolts directly to factory holes, using factory bolts... NO DRILLING.
Was designed by MTBCoach - member here. I put a nice coat of hammerite paint on it.
$70 +...
I wouldn't be yourself up over it. The time it may have taken you to do the work, buy all the damned tools, etc, not to mentione the hours of frustration "learning" how to fix things all carries a high price. Things happen for a reason.
Great job on the truck!
Couple questions for you:
For the Cree rear signal bulbs, the description in the link says plug and play. Are they? (I've tried cheaper versions that I ended up returning to Oreilly's Auto Parts.)
Did you find a plug and play tail/brake light bulb? I hate hacking...
I have read a lot of praise for the depo's, but I remember reading about figment being sort of "off"? Is that still an issue with them? They look fantastic, and for the price - trump buying OE.
What about bulbs in the depo's? Can you use anything that fits the stock housing? Would HIR's...
No experience with the either, but have seen the new KO2, and it looks very nice - seems to have more siping for snow. I have had several sets of BFG KO's and when it came time to re-shoe last fall, I didn't think twice about it. Have always gotten impressive mileage out of them, even wear and...
How much brighter did the harness make them? Well, I couldn't say honestly. But of the three 80's in my little group here - they're the brightest, and they also have more of noticeable "spread" of light directly in front of the truck. Scientific? No. Perceivable? Yes.
The slee kit puts more power to the bulbs. It won't take much reading here to understand why you would be wise to upgrade the harness, before installing higher wattage bulbs.
Adding the slee harness, and HIR or the JD bulbs really isn't too difficult, and makes a big difference. Also, you...
Lately I have noticed a "rumbling" sound that lasts for about 5 seconds when the truck is started (never occurs during cold starts). Used to happen about one in twenty times, seems to be much more frequent now.
'97 w/ 195k miles on the vehicle.
The sound is low and "rumbly".
At first I...
Drive my 80 daily for my job in sales, in and around Denver metro. It does fine, and I never worry when the weather gets dicey. I will say though, that whenever I drive my wife's Subaru, it's just easier to buzz around in. An 80 lumbers around like a sassy gal. I drive about 1,000 miles a...
Very interesting, and I love the sleeper concept here.
Curious to know the difference in weight between the the GM power plant mentioned and the 1FZE? Also, and pardon me if it was stated earlier, but is the t case you're using part-time 4wd? Or AWD?
I don't have a SC, yet - but I liked the feedback from one mud member who said something like, "with the SC, I don't so much notice the truck being fast as I notice that it isn't slow..." IIRC, he had also done a top end, etc. That's good enough for me, but I also got excited after replacing...
