One is group 27, the other group 27F. I'd just call a battery shop near you and see if they have a matching pair in stock. Canadian Tire might have it, but a proper shop would be better.
I would buy 2 OEM fuel filters. Replace it once after the first half tank, and the second one after 3-5 tanks of fuel. After that, I wouldn't even think about it.
I've had my 2005 HDJ100 for about 10 months/6,000 miles now. I've owned I think 6 diesels between VW/Merc/Toyota and driven plenty more. The 1HD-FTE might be my favourite engine in any vehicle I've owned. It's hard to describe why, but it just feels so solid. Plenty of power for me, smooth...
The 2LTE would be a great engine if it had better cooling and a head. Maybe even direct injection of I'm allowed to imagine that. The bottom end looks so solid and it revs out pretty nicely
In the US, you can't import a vehicle until it's 25 years old, so this year (or late last year more likely) is the first time they were available for import. Give it a few years and you'll start seeing more 100's
Well that was fast!
I am really curious how the Safari compares though. I thought about getting one, but ended up sticking with the LC mostly due to familiarity with LC/Toyota.
Find a listing of a truck for sale and add about $5k for shipping/import, assuming someone's willing to help on the export side. It's really not that bad.
I looked into this for a long while. The problem is, finding a clean one is hard. They sell for 1.5-2x the price of a comparable 100 series, and that's with the 1HZ engine.
If a manual 1HD was available, I might've gone for it. The 1VD has just become available to import to Canada, but they're...
It's not even just the pressure that's the problem storing hydrogen. Hydrogen embrittlement and the difficulty of containing such a tiny molecule really limit the materials you can create a pressure vessel out of.
There may be uses for hydrogen as an energy source, but not likely in transport.
@IncroCruise thanks for all the information.
Timing belt and water pump are next up on my maintenance. I wanted to drive it for a bit and make sure everything was solid first. I'll be sitting for the next month or so, but I'll get that done ASAP.
EGR is definitely in place and fully...
I was only able to attach 5 photos, so here's a couple more, since I've had it here.
And one more showing the cluster of buttons to the right of the steering wheel. The Power Heater is the viscous coupler + idle up. Bottom right is the headlight washers.
