Searched a bunch; all threads talk about early 3FE 80s fitting problems.
My alternator is not performing as it should and needs to be replaced. Diodes in the rectifier are going south: alt needle moves with turn signals.
Can anyone please confirm that the 90 amp alternator with p/n...
The top of the rear wheel is a good enough step to strap down surfboards. But I’m sure I really need these side steps, at least for securing hammocks.
Part numbers anyone??
I isolated a belt driven whine to the AC compressor by removing the AC belt.
Luckily I had a spare AC belt tensioner pulley with a very quiet OEM bearing. Swapped that in and the whine was back. Remove the belt and the whine is gone. Both tensioner pulleys were quiet and not the cause. I am...
Installed a Depo condenser fan with DIY wiring harness and OEM Fog Light switch this summer.
There is some slight electrical noise (static) with the fan on AND using FM radio. Scion radio and OEM antenna.
Not a big deal, but willing to accept suggestions for improvement. Sarcasm welcome.
As the title says I've stripped one of the Torx T25 bolts holding my 97 Eaton fan clutch together.
What is the best was to extract? (aside for welding on a nut; don't weld) I have an impact extractor tool somewhere.
Also, does the T25 bolt have a specific thread pitch? Would like to replace...
So I finally got around to addressing the seat gears as they haven't moved in quite some time. The driver's was all the way back so there was no urgency.
Ordered the Gamiviti gears and tore into it.
It wasn't the gears at all rather the grease on the seat side of the plastic gears had turned...
I'm considering bringing 12V off the battery with 10g into the center console. Has anyone routed this into the cab through the gasket around the transfer shift lever? There must be advantages and disadvantages. Did some searches.
Just thinking....
This is a really nice use of time. It's taken about two decades off part of my driving experience and it makes me smile every time I get in and out of the 80.
Previously, the drivers belt in particular had to be tucked back into the car before shutting the door. It was getting annoying and I...
What did you accomplish on your 80 this year? Plans for next year??
Personally,

Front axle service.
Low-pressure PS hoses & flush & new PS cap
Replaced oil cap.

Long story: nearing the end of front axle service. Lazy and (honestly scared) to disconnect axle shafts from birfs so I soaked them and blew out the debris. Filled one with new Palladium using a hyperdermic needle on the grease gun. Great.
Needle breaks off into the second birf while 80...
Yes, searched, but am spinning wheels.
'97 unlocked front axle. What is the thing right next to the axle breather vent toward the drivers wheel.
Elbow shaped thing on axle.
Thanks.
No, don't have a pic handy.
Thanks again
A little backwards here but I have a new bolt that I bought from CDan about a decade ago, still in the plastic.
P/N is 90080-10249
Why did I buy this bolt? Where does/can it go??
Parts gurus...?
...and yeah, I searched
