I accept the Aloha Jen challenge.
It's been so long since I've been on here I forgot all about how ridiculously stunning you are.
Nice work on the windshield, thanks for the inspiration, I'm gonna go for it.
I bet those suction cups were super handy! I didn't even think about that, adding...
Hey guys,
I have a few extra bucks and really need to install a new windshield.
I think I can swing installing it myself unless there's a some really tricky issues I can't handle.
Any reason I shouldn't do this at home?
Any tips, thoughts?
thanks!
They are in a box in the garage. What are they worth? I'll never put them back on the truck again.
Note: I do not recall if the ABS has ever activated while I have driven this rig. All I can say about the condition of the LSPV is it is visibly what you would expect to see under an old rig such...
Booster replaced. Brakes feel fantastic. I've never had an 80 with such responsive brakes.
ABS gone.
LSPV gone.
I'm curious if the MC failed and the pedal was pushed to the floor (wife was driving when pedal travel condition surfaced) if that pressure and increase pedal travel all the way to...
Master cylinder was definitely bad. As soon as I replaced it all the tiny bubbles exiting front right caliper vanished.
Just did booster test again and it seems it's failed as well.
Started engine, let it run over one minute, shut it off, slowly pressed pedal a few times in a row and the pedal...
ABS and LSPV removed.
Clear solid fluid coming out of all corners except drivers front.
I've put at least a quart through the front right and have constant bubbles.
Can't seem to resolve it.
Trying to confirm if the master cylinder is good or bad now.
Does anyone know the difference between these NAPA calipers?
I need all 4 and the price difference works out to be at least $160 that I could be spending on other parts.
Cheers
No, not yet resolved. I am going to replace all calipers, probably delete ABS and LSPV, and go from there. My calipers are unknown years old as it is, my rear rotors are junk, at least one in the front is warped, pads are crap.
I'm shopping for parts now.
If anyone has recommendations on...
My calipers are very old. I have one front and one rear with busted bleeders so I'm just going to replace all 4 calipers. I have never had a hung up caliper piston.
In your experience does it cause this very hard pedal condition?
I have hard pedal, good check valve, no noticeable pedal drop on...
I've been reading about the ABS and LSPV. This rig will someday be back on snow in CO and I'm not sure if I want to really dump the ABS or not.
I'll keep reading I guess. Appreciate your input, thanks, I'm leaning toward dumping it and just being more cautious on slick surfaces.
Not normal, hard like booster failure. It went from sinking pedal to hard pedal. The hose from booster is pretty new and I believe I have good booster operation and air tightness.
I did the test when cold.
On day one I filled the MC reservoir because I was going to bleed the brakes, then I...
Wife tells me the brakes are acting up, I drive it and find brakes are working but the pedal fades while sitting at stop lights and such and need to be pumped to be restored.
So pressure and stopping power were ok, at first, then the pedal would soften and pressure would be lost.
Well that...
You may want to consider contacting a local shop that rebuilds axles. Biggest bang for the buck, imo. I went that route and was very pleased. I can't recall the costs but it was a fraction of new.
