For Sale  1987 FJ60 project with lots of cool parts

I’ve come to the realization I have way too many projects and want to thin down some, so reluctantly I am offering my 1987 FJ60 with 93K actual miles. It currently runs and drives, with a muffler, tailpipe, battery, and tune up / fluid change it would run great. Issues include; rusty body and...

Help Please High Altitude Power loss

You will see a noticeable drop of power at 5500 feet however it should still run and rev OK. At 5500 feet you only have about 80% of air available as you do at sea level (11.7 PSIA vs. 14.6 PSIA) so you can assume an approximate 20% loss in power given everything else the same. Assuming...

    Optima Red Top

I've got 2 old Fords with a red top in each, both cars are used infrequently. One battery is about 7 years old and the other is about 2, no problems yet. Regarding new versus old, a friend owns a small shop and recently his Interstate distributor stopped carrying Optimas other than warrantee...

    Cruiserparts.net....

I used them once a couple of years ago to buy new door shells and some other stuff, never again. Communication was terrible, packaging was worse, and shipping took several months. Plus I got stiffed for a couple of small parts. The only thing they did quick was charge my card. I'd pass and...

How much to paint a 62? (Professionally)

This is a similar question to "What's my car worth?" The answer will vary wildly, depending on the shape of the vehicle and the quality of job you want. As far as looks are concerned, 90%+ of a paint job is the prep work. Amount of rust, body work, number of layers of paint existing...

    TEQ Key Blank Match?

Cool keys. The key is definitely different but there is a chance it will work. I do not have Toyota part number applications, but from the look of the key it appears to be a valet blank that fits Celica from 1970 - 1983 and other misc. models (that had valet keys) from 1969 - 1975. The...

    40 rims on a 60

Rimex stocked several different diameter/widths, including 16", I called them on the phone and ordered them by size. This was in 2005 so hopefully not much has changed. A lot of machine shops will probably shy away from this due to liability issues (another product of our sue-happy society)...

    40 rims on a 60

I bought the rims (if I remember correctly they are officially called wheel shells) from Rimex, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ. However, any good dirt track racing shop should be able to get them. I took the 40 wheels and new shells to our local machine shop where they chucked the wheels in a lathe, cut...

    40 rims on a 60

I always liked the 40 wheels with hubcaps but they were too narrow for my taste. The solution was to cut off the old rims and weld new 8" rims on the centers at the stock backspacing and this is the result.

    FJ 60 dash cover kits?

Yes, at least mine fit right over. In fact on a damaged pad all portions that are raised must be ground down to stock height for the cover to fit properly.

    FJ 60 dash cover kits?

I bought a similar cover (if not the same) from SOR 6 or 7 years ago. The fit was good and unless you looked closely around the vent holes it looked like a factory pad. It has weathered the years in New Mexico sun reasonably well with only a little curling at the windshield end and fading on...

Any Ford 300 straight 6 engine swaps or advice out there?

Hey Chubbs, appreciate your words of wisdom regarding I6s. There are many good reasons to go with an 8, but I also like the idea of keeping an I6 in my 60 for three reasons: the Granville King “drive with elegance” needs the low RPM torque peak that an undersquare engine provides, plus keep it...

Best Place To Get A Vortec?

The 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, and 6.0 all have the same external dimensions so pick the one that best fits your HP/torque curve needs and pocketbook. Like said earlier a good way to go is get a "new" pullout with all electronics and harness. Stricker and Schram are two of the biggies that usually have at...

    Ass-sideways driving!

Through the years I've had the lever (one or both) at the backing plate seize. When released the cable from side to side should not have any tension and the levers on both backing plates should be down on the stops. A few blasts with a good penetrating oil and several tugs on the cable should...
