I am in search for a cam for my FJ40. It is a '71 but had a new factory motor installed in '73. It has no serial number other than "F". What is a fair price for a cam on said motor?
Wow, what a journey! Did you ever think when you started that you would have been so in depth with this project? Great job. Were you able to salvage the rubber/plastic "drip rail" under the metal drip rail?
Ok thanks. I really didn't think it was the orange color that it was. It is being rebuilt for me & the mechanic needed to know. Does $1,000 for parts sound right?
I am located in Panama City Florida, and am looking for a right side hard top panel to fit my 1971 FJ40, or an entire top with both sides still on it. :bang:
No, it will not go down toward 2nd & 3rd at all. I will give it a shot & disconnect it & try it by hand. Oh, and there is also no problem shifting the granny gear low & high, (I know that is another horse all together).
Anyone sver heard of this problem? I have a 71 that has 3 on the tree. Motor cranked fine, drove it around the yard, and realized that it will not go in to 2nd & 3rd. Changed out the clutch & brake cylinders first cause they were shot. If I have to take it to a transmission shop it will have to...
I had sent a message to Poser, but he was still out of town when I sent it. He got back & called me right after I made thread. It sounds like a good deal to me. Actually I have not looked at the front brake because I knew I had to do something on the rear, this is not only my first restoration...
I am in the same boat. Restoring my first FJ40, it's a 1971. It is missing the rear brake cylinders from the passenger side. Don't know if I should replace them & go on, or re-fit to disk, oh, & I ma on a shoestring budget!
