The basics: 73 FJ40, stock everything - except a 4" lift.
Problem was - very hard to start, running rich and loading up, black smoke from exhaust, died sometimes while driving; just basically ran bad.
Attempted remedies: had carb rebuilt, replaced plugs, wires dizzy cap, air filter...
Posting a step-by-step while you do it...?
I need to do the same thing to mine, and no clue where to start. No FSM, no idea of special tools, just know the bugger is leaking on both sides. I'll be watching this thread.
